Angel Sanctuary

Personally, I loved Angel Santuary, it had a nice plot, and the animation is beautifull, and the incest thing didn't bug me at all(for all you who don't know, Sara and Setsuna have no idea why their in love, and they know it's wrong, it's because they where reincartnated into brother and sister, in their past life, they where in love...but I'm really not to sure on the whole thing :/ )

The ending made me ngry, they could have included so much more, and sometimes I got confused about who was a guy and who wasn't...

Well...Setsuna's life just sucks now doesn't it

Ahh yes I liked Angel Sanctuary. The incest didn't bother much later on. At first I was just like, "Wait... he's... her brother. Ow, my head!" But I ended up really liking the whole thing. Later on, I never really considered them as brother and sister.

Yeah the ending could've been better, but I didn't mind it too much as it was.

As I understand it, the manga it was based off of gives into more detail in general (for example, the title "Angel Sanctuary", according to the on-disk extra info, comes from the title of a video game created by Katan to drain energy from humans into Rosiel to awaken him). The ending was very open-ended, but I think it was a good place to end all the same. You can just kind of piece the rest of it together in your head. Although, the kid screaming on the bed makes me wonder how successful Setsuna was in rescuing Sara...

Princess Garnet, where did you hear that they were lovers in a past life? I think I must have missed that detail. That would explain the very strong attraction that Setsuna can't explain.

It's wierd how the incest portion of it just kind of fades out of your mind. Like Flint, I was kind of creeped out by the brother/sister thing at first, but I almost completely forgot about it by the end. I thought the position taken on incestual love (not sex, I.E., not rape, that's VERY different) was an interesting viewpoint: As long as you love each other, who cares what other people think?

Even if you are related by blood...

Not that I agree with it, but it is an interesting view nonetheless.

Is it just me, or did AS have kind of a Romeo and Juliet feel to it? Lovers that are kept apart by means beyond their control (R&J had their families, Se&Sa have their blood bond and social taboos), and when they finally manage to get together, they are taken apart again and both end up sacrificing themselves for the other.

that isn't really the ending

it's not that the manga explains things in further detail, it's that almost all of the story is only in the manga. The anime only covers the very beginning of the manga, that's all that's been animated. That's why you see pictures of someone named Jibrelle (many different spellings out there) from Angel Sanctuary- someone never seen in the manga. I won't say who she is in case people want to read the manga. I've never read the manga- I was planning to buy it in French but last year a vendor at AnimeUSA told me that it had just been picked up by DarkHorse. I haven't heard anything about it since then so we'll see

Dark Horse picked up the Angel Sanctuary manga? Rock. I'll have to keep an eye out for that. Thanks for the tip-off.

Angel Sanctuary is awesome. I love the anime. And I LOVE the manga. I've read 3 volumes of it now. It explains a lot more than the anime. There are more characters, even in the parts the anime is based on. The anime left out like 3 or 4 characters easily, maybe even more.

The anime was just a big ad for ppl to get the manga, I think the dvd even says that somewhere.

My friend read the manga, and she loves it, but it's in chinese so that doesn't help me -_-

I love AS mostly cuz I've not seen as in depth an approach into theology since Dogma/ Eva (and Homer's Oddysey ;-p), but with Eva the theology stuff is nothing more than an afterthought but with Dogma and AS it's a big part of the story and you gotta beleive that AS takes it to the level that it should be, treated with respect! Not just 'oh I'm an Angel, oh I'm Jes0lanis!! -uhdurdur...

Anyway that and the art, I have to keep telling myself, outweighs the incest (I thought they loved each other b4 too... but it's been a long time...). So it is on my 'like this anime' list.

w/o incest there's no story... but with a different story i'da liked it alot more but I do like this one and plan to buy it some day...
