Thanks phade for making this site the best place on the internet to hang out.
I would say that if it were not for this site, I would still not know what anime is. You have given many people a outlet for creativity and a place to share ideas and build friendships.
Good luck with your baby!
You will be missed!

Congrats on Fatherhood, man. Know you will be missed. Also, you've always got an open invite to Anime Detour - as long as I'm on staff I'll see to that. I know you may not be able to make it with a new kid next year, but if you can, it'd be great to hang with you again.

I didn't get to this as soon as I would have liked to.

Anyways, congratulations on fatherhood, Phade! I'll miss you and your work on 'The Org' bunches. You should feel very proud that you helped to turn this website into the ultimate and almost official AMV website in the world.

Congratulations again!

I have to add my thanks and well wishes to this as well..

Kris,
Thanks so much for doing all you have to make this place what it is today.
It..like many others have stated..started me down the path to the hobby I now enjoy and let me meet so many new people and make so many new friends.
After seeing whom you've left in charge..I know for a fact that the site will be in good hands ^^ (as if there were any doubts about that =p)
Congradulations on the baby! You're in for some of the best times of your life as I can vouch for! *hugs her now 7 year old son tight*
Take care..we'll miss you while you're gone..and hopefully we'll see you pop in once in awhile as time permits...Best wishes to you and yours ...

Phade-

As everyone here knows the .org is brilliant. There's such a great buzz around it. I agree with the person who posted much earlier about all great crations being able to succeed their originator - you've created a stong community fantastic culture. And I share your faith in the people you've handed the site to.

The fact that this thread is on it's ninth page in just a few days speaks volumes.

Like many, without this site I would probably have never even considered opening a video editor.

:D Congrats on the whole to-be-a-father thing :D

I can't say that I'll really miss Phade, people rave on about how much good he does for this community and yadda yadda...but one simple point always seems to be missed...does Phade make AMVs? Acording to his profile, only two, way back in 2001, neither of which are anything super incredible. Some people might get pissed off at me for saying so, but it's hard to miss someone who doesn't actually make AMVs, which is the primary purpose of this community. Without the people who MAKE AMVs, the .org simply would not exist. But contrariwise, even if the ENTIRE .org folded up tomorrow, you would without a doubt see a replacement site popup within weeks if not sooner. I don't expect many people to agree with me, on anything I've said, but for the record I just want it to be perfectly clear that Phade is not some kind of a demigod in the eyes of all AMV creators.

He doesn't really contribute to discussions, so I won't miss him in that regard.

He doesn't hang out in the chat room, so I won't miss him in that regard.

He doesn't really make AMVs, so I won't miss him in that regard.

When he leaves, the site won't, so I there's no way I can miss him in that regard.

So my only question is...how can any of you? *shrugs*

PS - Congrats on yer life Phade, sounds like yer pretty happy, go with what makes ya feel good.

wheee it's me...

Phade has made one of the biggest contributions to the community. he created this site. there is no other site like it. what other site has brought so many people with the common interst in amvs together? what other site has such a large database of amvs? you don't have to make amvs to contribute. the bottom line is that the amv community was basically a mailing list and a bunch of small groups of people. This website brought us all together. Phade did that with his own money and time. editing takes a lot less time and money then what he's done.

It's true that this site wouldn't exist without the editors, but a lot of editors wouldn't be editing if it wasn't for this site. I for sure would've quit a long time ago.

Do you even know the amount of time it takes to create a web site like .org and to maintain it? Too much time to contribute to forum discussions. Too much time to chat. Too much time to make AMVs. And who cares Phade hasn't made many vids? He has done a lot for the AMV community. So he's done a lot for you. Yeah, you. Unless you're not part of that community, in which case I don't see your point in posting here.

You've only been here for a few months. I don't think you really know what you're talking about.

It's presumptuous from you to think so many people don't have a good reason to thank somebody. And if you don't have a good reason to thank somebody... well, just don't thank him. I don't see your point in saying "I don't thank you" unless you really have something against Phade.

As a matter of fact, I do. And coincidentally, I know how much MORE time and effort it takes when you're actually coding ALL of your own stuff. This web board for example, is not Phade's, it's a prepackaged deal, either UBB or some other knockoff.

Too much time to contribute to forum discussions. Too much time to chat. Too much time to make AMVs.

I make videos, I chat, I maintain more websites, databases and projects than Phade or most likely anyone else on this site can even begin to imagine. The point is, it's not about not having enough time, it's about what you make time for. Obviously Phade has things that are more important to him, which is not a bad thing, I personally think it's great he's doing the whole family thing and all, it's gonna make him really happy. My point is that many of you are spooging over yourselves trying to make Phade out to be some kind of demigod, which he simply is not.

And who cares Phade hasn't made many vids? He has done a lot for the AMV community.

Arguable. I've actually done various studies that show that the actions of people like Phade can actually inadvertantly damage a community. Most online communities do much better when there is more than one central site. In fact you can kind of see this happening already in this community (which is a good thing), where the chat room has started to branch off into it's own clique. A lot of the AIM chat room goers abstain completely from the board and a lot of them even prefer sharing their AMVs through AIM via direct connection. In the future hopefully there will be more sites and more places for AMV creators to participate in, as it breeds less stagnation and what I like to call "Internet inbreeding".

So he's done a lot for you. Yeah, you. Unless you're not part of that community, in which case I don't see your point in posting here.

I'm apart of many communities in many different ways.

You've only been here for a few months. I don't think you really know what you're talking about.

That's quite presumptuous of you to think so. In fact I've been involved on the .org since around December of 2001 and even before that if you count my dealings in various binary anime groups on Usenet.

It's presumptuous from you to think so many people don't have a good reason to thank somebody.

Is that so? Logically I would think that if that were true you would have been able to directly answer my question and respond in a coherent and organized manner on every point that I brought up. Really, your entire post has been one giant emotional spasm mixed in with, "OMG WTF WEB DESIGN IS TEH HARD, YO!".

Quite frankly, I don't even see why you bothered replying to me, certainly if THAT is all the better you can counter with you aren't going to change my opinion and even further, why would you even WANT to try and change my opinion? I don't really want to change yours, maybe I'm a lil curious as to the reasoning behind your opinion, but I certainly don't expect nor want you to just blindly agree with me like some meandering sheeple. Although it seems that's what you're looking at me to do. *shrugs* I'm sorry, but I just can't oblige, I'm sorry that my believing somehting differently from you causes you so much distress and angst, but that's the way the world works, not everyone is going to agree with you.

And if you don't have a good reason to thank somebody... well, just don't thank him. I don't see your point in saying "I don't thank you" unless you really have something against Phade.

In case this point just skipped you, every time you post here on this board, it is archived, and not just on Phade's end. You may not actually care about this community on the level that some people such as myself do, however we recognize the importance of history and presenting the opinions of ALL sides for the sake of future reference by future generations.

I believe that it is important to make it perfectly clear that Phade is NOT revered as some kind of demigod in the eyes of all AMV creators. If Phade wants to leave, hey, that's great I wish him all the best, you should too, however spooging over him like some kind of obsessed otaku strung out on pockey and making claims about how he's practically fucking Jesus to everyone around here is the point at which some people like myself draw the line and choose to step in and state our opinions in the matter.

We're just thanking Phade.

Thanking somebody is not making a god out of him.

Now I get it. You're jealous!

(As far as web design is concerned, that message board seems to be the only part of .org that has not been designed specifically, though it has been specifically modified. I know a lot about web design and computer science in general -- actually I'm computer scientist -- and I keep thinking .org is a nice piece of software that must have taken a huge amount of work to set up. But I think we're getting slightly off topic.)

Anyway, I don't want to troll any further on this topic. You explained your theory of web evolution, you let your historical mark (although it will probably get cleared off all computer memories before this even becomes History, if it ever does), and you clearly stated that Phade is not a god, just in case any of us would think he is. What had to be said has been said, thanks for sharing your thoughts.
