This has suddenly become a very thought provoking thread.
Which is pretty rar in general, here's my problem with these
lines of reasoning, how do you determine a noob or a pro?
For example, you said your contest would be for noobs do I count?
What if somone just created a new accounf like my firend VOR
would he become a noob agian, who just makes good videos.
These are the sorta questions that are left to linger in mind :)

Okay that deseves an explanation. First up I have to say that the word "noob" I feel is derogatory but it actually comes from a sarcastic definition meaning that a [i]typical noob is to describe a vid creator who just bursts onto the scene, thinks he's the shit, but his videos are shit and he's got a great deal to learn. (That's actually my interpetation of a noob

Yet sometimes I think people are called noobs unfairly and thats why this idea came about.

This idea (The Noob Tourny) came about from one of my crew members SSJ4 Nightmare because while there are those out there who make one vid and all of a sudden proclaim "I AM GOD. KISS MY ASS. MY VIDS ROCK!." there are those who start out and are learning, and occaisioanlly are bashed because they left a sub in or an orphan frame and unfortunately are new so are dubbed "noobs" whether they like it or not.

In essence, whether you have been doing this for ten years, four years or one year, you are always learning. You never stop for a sec. So, Nightmare thought what if we gave a contest specifically to beginners to showcase their stuff and show us what they are made of. This contest would only be for vid creators who have under five vids out in circulation and have been a vid creator for less then a year. This does not apply to a vid creator that has been out there for five years either on Kazaa or their own site and all of a sudden hits the org, that does not mean you are a noob. What makes you a noob is that you are new to the scene "the amv community" and you are trying to learn so you can become recognized.

This contest is still in the works as we are deciding the rules & regulations. I will announce it soon to the org. It will be during the summer when the "noobs" are out of school or have more time on their hands.

I will give out more information as it comes to me and I will post it both on my web site and also on the org.

Ne ways I'm happy to announce that AMVFD will premier on a-m-v.org. U guys can see it. It's very funny to watch. This project also was Sponsored By Jen. Which I begged and Cried like a girl for her to be in amvfd. So She had her mic and hosted amvfd for me. Along with My funny skits and her advice to the paduwons out there. This was a fun project for me and Jen.

I view myself as a good video maker because I really like the videos I make. I watch them and I go "Wow, that was awesome.", thats how I judge how good my videos are ^_^. But really, I think a video can be just as good made with WMM as they can be in Adobe... I dont watch video's for effects or very high quality (but I do enjoy decant quality =P), I watch them so when im done watching them my jaw will be on the floor... and tears in my eyes ;).

I dunno why I wrote all that... I need to lay back on the stupidty...

Heh, I'm the exact opposite MetalGear. Generally, I look at my videos, see a missed frame and go 'AAAAH! WHAT THE FUCK, HOW COULD I DO THAT!' while I miss that I perfected every other edit in the video. I have fun watching my own vids though, so I guess I am okay.

Anyways, the key to 'n00b' to me is generally something like:

Noob = Inexperience

I really don't like to degrade people who are trying to learn (unless I'm in a pissy mood, which then, is rather pleasureable) unless they come and say 'Hey man, teach me this, this, and this, NOW!'.

I'd like it a bit more if they read some guides first and came out with some awesome AMV like dwchang did. Although it depresses me when someone with little prior experience can win the VCA :P

It took me about 6-8 AMVs to get passed the horrible (Video Quality Issues
, Sound Problems, Learning software..etc) Before my AMVs become
watchable note the amount of unlinked (direct) videos on my profile :)
However, even today I see badly placed frames and things I could
have done better (there is at least one error in everyone of my videos)
. Personally I find AD's guide pretty confusing and had to have people
I know dig-me-out from under it. I'm kinda a hands on learner and
not generally the reading type... I mean, I'm reading my first new novel
in months "Footprints of God" a technothriller. Anyway, I'm part of the DVD
RIP -> Huffy =>Premiere + mp3 => Amv school or (if the series isn't
available) Decent Rare Fansub or Raw (if you can find them) => Premiere
+ mp3. By-the-way sometime next week or so my next video will
be out. Went off topic,.... Goodluck to everyone on saturday :)

Thing is alot of us (and Jalana knows what i mean) started off in winmx.Which is by far the worst place for noobs,no notpeople woh gust started vidmaking.I'm taking about assholes who would come in and whine and bitch and say there vids rule when they didn't and would constantly complain and try to put people who where good at making vids down and gust do it to annoy people.Then later come back crying.It was things like that that made those kind of impressions stick with people like me and Jalana which is thats why we hold noobs up to.Now when i made a vid on winmx my Duel Of The Fates vid and My Dark Future vid i didn't act like that because i knew i was still learning and i didn't complain when people gave a bad review or didn't like it becasue it all payed off when i surprised them with a Good Vid.There always a peak for a noob to hit there potentional and become good its gust untill then act cool know your inexperienced and need to learn and don't act like a prick.Even for veterans there always more to learn
