Animazement 2004

Postby Nightowl » Sat May 01, 2004 2:43 pm

Welcome to the OFFICIAL AZ2004 thread! Why is it official? Because I made it. Anyone who hasn't already entered the contest, please do, we beg for your entries. We LOVE them. It's intoxicating! And hell, this year, should you want to, you can enter digitally - all you really have to do is get your video to me somehow... I don't actually have FTP space, but I'm sure you do! So tell me where to get your stuff. DO IT.

Oh we're also stealing that whole Iron Chef thing because we have to kill time at some point. The difference with our Iron Chef thingy thing is we won't be using any of that digital technology you kids seem to like so much. We're using VCRs. Mixers. Tape decks. REEL TO REEL, should we find the need. We need contestants. We're also supposed to have a panel. I don't like being on panels. So does anyone else wanna be on a panel? There have got to be at least a few creators coming to Animazement! Speak up! WE NEED YOU!!!

hm...that sounds interesting. I hadn't looked at this before since last time I checked the only option I saw was vhs, and well, I'm not a fan of that. ^_^ I actually pre-regged for the con last year but was unable to make the trip. this year it's still only a week off from a major con here in florida, so unless work is going REALLY well, I'd be hard pressed to take the extra time off. (wait, that's memorial day weekend. hm...) if I could make it, it would probably only be for a day. which day would the contest be on? saturday?

I'll be there and should have my entries ready soon. Hopefully by the deadline.
Nathan, did you steal the contest from Quu or does he still have some part in it?

About the Iron Chef thing, please tell me you're joking. Is such an event even possible?

I'll certainly be sending in my entries soon, as a Durhamite (is that even a word? LOL) I'll be in attendence, if you need extra bodies to sit in on a panel, I suppose I'll certainly volunteer, um can't do the Iron Chef with tape decks tho... Laptops MAYBE, but tape decks? Not gonna happen...

Just email me at mk3@mindspring.com if you need extra bodies for an AMV panel :)

I stole the contest. Well, actually it was kind of given to me... as I can't afford cons anymore, I though, why not.

The Iron Chef thing started out as a joke, but they need a bit of filler, and asked me to take it seriously... dunno if I'll ever be able to take such a concept seriously, but if we can get the crap equipment together and contenders, why not? It would be utter insanity for the poor editors, I can say that for sure!

As for the panel thing, I don't really want to be on it, as when I get on a panel, I tend to get drunk and ramble about things that have nothing to do with AMVs. So if anyone wants on, be my guest - I'll moderate to the best of my ability, introduce folks, but that's about as far as I can take it.

This contest should be disfunctional and bizarre, to say the least...

just wondering, what's keeping you from doing the iron chef digitally? I don't see how an analog competition could be easy to pull off, or if anyone would be willing to do it. how many entries do you need for the iron chef? is it only two? perhaps you can find two editors who have their own equipment to edit with. for exmple, my amv setup is completely portable, so I'm sure there are many others in the same boat. just an idea.

But if we did a digital Iron Chef, that would be just like all the other Iron Chefs, and not as fun and insane ;)

true, but I don't see how an analog iron chef would even work out.

Hey Nate,
Can we just send you an email with links or something. The reason i didn't enter was casuse I have no way of making a analog conversion.
