I'd have liked all the videos better if they weren't off sync by about 1 sec.
Some of them were that bad.

I like the video, personally. It influenced me to go out and get Substance. ;)

The crowd had a few laughs, but since there wasn't much comedic material, my guess is that they were just intrigued.

AMV creators who are looking for exposure might want to review the following list (scroll down): http://www.sakuracon.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6722

These are not contest videos. They were played as background video in The Wired (which I believe was the gaming room).

Somebody posted their own review of the contest in the AMV mailing list. Now it's obviously their opinion, but it does have the thing people wanted, which was a list of things played:

Heh heh, it's him again :)

Okay, amusing matching of voices to characters. Good to see lip-syncing
done well using the available NLE tools. Meruru footage keeps getting
better. This is a _non_obvious concept that comes off seamlessly in the
hands of this able creator. Good work! And way to end with a flourish! =)

I Just Can't Wait to see your reaction to that blurb.

Jeez.....isn't there supposed to be some page online that all the videos shown are posted? I badly wanted to show my dad all the cool stuff that I saw (like the utterly hilarious Mentos commecial using Naruto scenes).

And I want to see that awesome Hellsing video from the action category! (can't believe that didn't win.....grrrrr).

I've updated the Sakura-Con page with as much information as I have at the moment. There will probably be more changes when the official list is posted.

That was your video? COOL!

*flashes a big, warm smile at McKeed*

And thanks a million for the link, TaranT! I can't wait until my dad gets home tonight so I can show him all that's on there right now.....

Quiet Cannon: I loved Eva: Substance, and I showed that love with my vote (though it doesn't seem to have helped ^_^).

The funny thing is, I never finished Metal Gear Solid 2. I got about half way through it or further, but never finished the whole thing. I tried to finish it while I was working on the video, but I ended up getting distracted by a shortage of time (usually from school), actually editing the video, or RPGs. I will finish the game some time.

Aside from the end of the video, there wasn't any comedy added to the video, but it was something of an inside joke to have Shinji play the role of Raiden. If you've seen the anime and played the game, you could see that they are rather similar. It just worked out so perfectly that Raiden was another whiney main character from his own story.

Glad you liked it, and thanks for the vote. Although it would have been nice to win, right now I was mainly interested in having the video shown in front of an audience.

What'd everyone think of Drama #3, His and Her Iris?

The cut made me wince, and I was expecting to get booed for it, but apparently it was decent since I got a few laughs at the part that was supposed to be funny...
If it doesn't get me drunk, explode, or have breasts, I'm not interested.

Was it the one with the Star Wars Camera Iris transition? The second time I saw it... it bored its way into into my head with an 18v cordless drill with tungsten-carbide bits. I found myself singing the song and then repeatedly slapping my own face as an auto-spasmodic reaction.

I.. uh... wow.

Okay, well, I knew it was bad, but still.. ;)

As for "Star Wars Camera", I don't know, is that the cube effect? It was the one with the cube spin right when it cuts.

Trust me, my original attempt at that was MUCH MUCH WORSE. :)
