i dunno if this goes in here, but whatever: what do you need to do a dvd rip in terms of both software and hardware? i need it to be free if possible, i have no money.

A DVD drive in your computer to be more specific.

ok, i dont have much knowledge about this...all i know is mycomputer cant read dvds and no programs detect them...i dont have a DVDROM drive, just a normal CDROM...can i buy/get software to change this or would i need a ned cd drive?

Okay...get a DVD-ROM drive. I'd suggest looking on http://www.pricewatch.com. Then, look at ErMaC's guides. They explain how to use a DVD. If you want to read Kusoyaro's way (I'm not trying to claim I made the way you do it ErMaC or Kuso..free promotion anyhow..), it's at http://liquid2k.com/vashts80/Kusoyaro_DVD.txt. Get the software listed, and then do what he says. You'll have a perfect quality video.
