Smart blur in After Effects

Postby Wyverex » Sun Sep 01, 2002 7:29 pm

How can I use the Photoshop filter "smart blur" in After Effects? I've copied the 8BX file into After Effects' directory/Plugin-ins/Standard but it says it can't load the file.
I've tried with both PS 6 and 7 filters. I thought they were different but they're both 8BX extensions... Do I have to install PS 5?

Premiere and After Effects will usally only work with plugins written in their special SDK or sometimes Filter Factory. So *most* of the time you can't just drag a file over and expect it to work. If it doesn't work for you, then you're going to have to try to find a specific AfterFX plugin or I believe Virtual Dub has a smart blur filter that you can use. In fact I think dokidoki wrote one, kinda sorta. Not sure if it does what the Photoshop version does tho

But there is already some 8BX file (same as PS filters) in the AE plug-ins directory... So it should work.

I've already got Tim's plug-in but it's not the same thing as the smart blur in PS.

If anyone has Photoshop 5 or even 4 can he/she send me the smart blur effect filter? Maybe those version will work...
