You click on "Upload Video" from the Members main menu, then you get a one-time username and password good for FTPing to the Donut and uploading your video.

In order to upload a video, it must:
- be entered into the database
- be completed
- have no sexual nudity or excessive violence
- use primarily anime (or anime-like game cutscenes) sources
- use no downloaded footage

The advantages of local hosting are:
- it's on this site and not yours, so you don't have to pay for the bandwidth
- the Donut is very fast and reliable
- it's available for download indefinitely

The disadvantages are:
- new members can't download your video until 2 weeks have passed since their Joined date (unless, of course, you host a copy somewhere else and give an in/direct link to it)
- it's available for download indefinitely (if you want to post an updated version, you have to fill out a delete request form and such)

Argh, forgot to mention that:

Only locally hosted videos are eligible to receive stars. This can be considered a plus or a minus depending on how you look at it.

In fact, anyone who downloads your video will basically be eventually <i>forced</i> to give it a star rating if they want to keep downloading local videos. This can also be considered a plus or a minus.

(This (and the 2-week wait for newbies) is the main reason I try to always provide alternate versions of my videos on my own webspace, as I know how very annoying it is to have to give out stars.)

I'm looking into signing up with a host, the two best I've seen being:

http://www.powweb.com/
$7.77 a month, 150gb monthly transfer, 1gb space.

http://www.globat.com/
$7.50 a month, 60gb monthly transfer, 2gb space.

I'm not sure which one I want tho :) I want the huge transfer, tho 1gb space wouldn't host a huge amount of music videos, especially as I want to be able to have a DVD quality MPEG2 file along with the xvid.

But either way they're both exceptional deals.

There's a 100mb size limit, despite what it may tell you.
I tried to make it so you don't have to register to upload files.
If you have any problems or it gives you errors please email me:
informationhigh@elp.rr.com

I only ask that you upload your video's, I don't want it to be flooded with ripped mp3's or dvd's.

My video won't upload. The progress bar fills completely then stalls and sits.

As I said in <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... 33453">the other thread in which you mentioned this</a>, local hosting is not gone. The reason you can't upload your latest AMV is because, well, it's not really an <b>A</b>MV.

That sucks. Live action I can understand but Animé is just Animation shortened.

well if anyone needs personal help for setting up there own server you can

e-mail me: MaverMc@hotmail.com
aim me: M4V3R1CK MC
(if you click the links below my name the messages will goto my old screennames (i forget to update my amv acount  ))

info to be ready to give me:

-are you behind a router?
(if you don't know up front research a bit still not sure i can help)

-can you access your router configuration page?
(the compainy of your router will probly tell you the url for it (for most people its 192.168.0.1)

-do you have freeware ftp software loaded yet?
(look on this page i saw some good links)

-do you understand the concepts of ports and ports fowarding?
(if you do you probly don't need my help but to test out the server)

now i have cable and in the agrement it says not to host files for public download, so i'm gona let you guys barrow my files  basicly if you don't wana go through the hassle of setting up ftp server or can't have a computer as a server i'll let you host your amv on my server
specs:
your upload to it: 3mb
your download from it: 250k
unlimited bandwidth
space: 4 gigs
software: apahce
fourm use for storing data: gallery
cpu: 400mhz celeron
ram: 4**mb
os: Mandrake Linux 10

as you can see i really dont have the room to host a world of amvs (with most ranging at 50-70mb so i'll host it on one condition, i like it. lol don't worrie i may grade tough but thats just so people know wat they did wrong and learn from it, (i acutly like some of the poorer amvs i graded) anyway. one thing thats grate about my server is that:
1 hosting is free unlimited amvs
2 no limitations (except me having to like it, and you have to make a title pic)
3 doesn't use messy ftp for uploading or download
4 easy to use drag and drop java for uploading videos
5 you can upload pictures too and direct link them
6 people can rate your pics on the server its self.

now the downloads can't be massive other wise it hogs up the bandwidth so if your movie becomes really popular i'm gona have to ask you to find someone else to host too (i'll still host but i'll request a mirror so that my server isn't taken all the hits) and if you were scared at that "make a title pic" it isn't anything big, just take a pic at any point in your video (your choice) and then use paint or somthing to add the movie title to it. that way people know what there downloading.

anyway if you wana see the server for yourself:
http://tgp.servequake.com/gallery/albums.php
you'll noticed i've already hosted my first amv of it, and you can see a sample of wat a "title pic" looks like. plz enjoy!

oh and plz i'm a real person living in a house. so plz i don't wana wake up with 30 ims and 50 e-mails, be conservitive lol just don't be pushy i don't like people with bad attuides lol.

I use ScapeHost.com. They got great deals and have extras like installed PHPForum, GeustBook, and about 15 Email accounts. My deal is 1.5gigs for $6.95 a month, 100gig trnasfer, free domain, and FTPupload. With that I get this.
