I don't think an adapter can be used as a printserver. One of your computers will have to run a printserver prog.

Let me put it this way: it's won't work. It's not possible. That's basically a hub. A hub can't act as a printserver.

I disagree. The device is labeled as a print server and it does have both a 10/100 port and the USB. IMO, so long as you are also operating a dedicated router to connect this device to, it should act as a dedicated server. You'll have to setup both computers to recognize the print server, but it should be no problem. I know my department at work uses a similiar device. It's the weekend so I can't look at it for an exact model, but it is connected via ethernet to one of our routers and operates our laser printer fine.

I currently use a D Link 704P. It's a 4 port router with serial printer port. I share my Canon BJC 2000 with 3 other computers. I'm very satisfied with it. D Link also makes a USB print server of the same model, the 704UP.

It isn't a print server, it is an ethernet adapter. I highly doubt that a usb only printer is going to understand the network traffic that will come in through that. Also to have it connected you would need a cable with two USB Standard B Male connectors. I haven't personally seen one of these before. Your best bet is to network your computers, connect your printer to one of them and have that printer setup for print serving.

my male usb 2.0 cable is bigger than your male usb 2.0 cable.

It wont work... you'd have to find some way to load the drivers for that adapter on the printer, and even if you could do that, it wouldn't be the right architecture, and the printer wouldn't be able to configure itself as a network share. Your only two options are to connect it to one of your networked computers (already discussed) or buy a print server.
