Help with new computer, Please?

Postby Voices_Of_Ryan » Sun Apr 11, 2004 12:54 pm

(So this isnt completely about just video hardware, but I need help! so)

Start putting it together (after some HORRIBLE jumper instructions), got it together, went to turn it on...

*Click... Click... Click...*

Doesnt work, I'm totally confused, I check connections, wires, everything still.

*Click... Click... Click...*

So I take out the processor to see if it's the problem... Sure enough take the cpu out, and.

*Computer start up noise*

Any clue? I've fiddled around with it, but I still just get a *Click* with the cpu in, and it starts up without it in.

Any ideas?

I perfer to build stuff myself, that way if anything fucks up I have the insane satisfaction of knowing I fucked it up.

And no. The computer wouldnt even turn on with the processor in it.

 when newegg made me get a new motherboard (read my journal for explanation: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... mid=153772 ) I forgot to get one with a built in videoadapter, so I'm having to buy a new videocard... Not so bad.

But I know it ATLEAST turns on without the processer in it.

If inserting the CPU is preventing the system from powering up, it's a damn good bet that your CPU is totally FUBAR.

Newegg has rarely let me down.

I consider that a feature ;). I prefer being able pick which vid card i have and being able to upgrade.. of course that has more do with my gming than my video editing

Most likely, you don't have enough power going to your CPU. Is your power box sufficient?

Either the mobo or the CPU are fucked. Any power supply made in the last 10yrs could atleast power on a mobo, cpu + ram combo...

Yeah, I'm gonna say what everyone else is:

You CPU is dead, get a new one. There should be a warranty on it. If Newegg won't replace it sent it to the makers of the CPU; your warranty should get you a new one.
