Here's my advice: don't just throw your videos together and expect them to look great. You have to spend a long, long time on your videos. Videos like Vlad's "Memories Dance" and ErMaC's "Soul of an Angel" where not projects that took from just 1-2 hours or so. A lot of time was taken on them (I assume) and any video that has a lot of time put into it usually turns out better than average. Be picky. Take the time to go back and fix anything in your video that is off-beat or needs work. People have different ideas on what "a long time" is for work on a video, since some people like VicBond007 and Vlad spend hundreds of hours on their videos while 30-70 hours is usually enough for me to be happy with my work.

But effort isn't everything. A good concept or some emotion put into your video will usually help. Being artistic and/or having a unique style can help too. Wait for inspiration to hit you. Don't just say "well, I guess this song is good enough". Look for a song until one just strikes you as being perfect. And even just a little bit of planning can help a lot so that you don't use scenes up too fast, or so you can solidify your concept before you start working.

Ideas are also a big factor. Ideas on how you're going to edit a certain line in the music, ideas on concepts, ideas on certain efffects (if you use them) and just ideas in general make a video much more interesting.

Erm... yeah... so even though I'm not a master like some of those guys up there who posted before me... those are my thoughts and I hope they're useful^_^ Good luck editing^_^

And, as Machine said... "Follow your heart" :D

Plus, if you have an idea, for gods sakes CHECK IF ITS BEEN DONE BEFORE. We don't need more clone videos. Just do what makes you happy, damned if other people like it, but don't become repetitive (whatever that means)

Just because an idea has been done doesn't mean you can't/shouldn't make that video if you feel so inclined. Everyone has a different take on things. Who knows, your's could be the one everyone likes! :)

My advice: Don't try so hard, put half the effort in it. It will look good if you do random clips to random syncing and/or random lip syncing. Half the time, people will see a message that was never intended to be there.

Like with everything, I agree that putting time into something will amways be better then a quick rush job. I do spend 100s of hours on a video but this does not mean that that much time must be spend to have a good video. If you do spend a considerable time on a project, then you've got to love it enough to keep on going. This includes the music, the concept, editing and everything about it....
