Was that "flame" (sort-of) aimed at me or the newbie?

that animation reminds me of what i want to do to stupid newbies (the ones that ask stupid questions)
but the ones that read the guides and dont ask stupid questions (and mostly never even say they are a newbie) deserve a yellow banana (pink ones are worth way too much to leave the safety deposit fruit bowl)

Not trying offend anyone , but Ermac’s guide is like Chinese food…twenty minutes later you’re scratching your head and wishing you had more to chew on. If you want some better guides to work with, then I suggest that you go to either of these places:

http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/index.htm
(my personal recommendation)

http://www.vcdhelp.com/
(another site filled to the brim with good info)

and as for the handling newbies posting in the wrong forums, yes it’s annoying ,but it happens…so until it drives me mad...

Ok I'm getting sick and tired of this. There is a very, very easy way to rip all dvd's. So far I've been able to copy every dvd i have tried with this program. Go to www.google.com and search for a prog that is called dvdx it can rip all movies directly to mpeg vcd or svcd u can choose. u can also choose how much to encode where to start etc.... Very easy very nice very stable. it works great on my p4 4.2 40xdvd

40x DVD isn't out yet AFAIK, and DVDx slowly damages the drive/DVD as you're encoding into VCD/SVCD/DivX directly from the disk.

Don't ever, EVER, insult ErMaC's guides! But seriously, all the guids at VCDHelp suck in my opinion, and the ones at the nickyguides site suck. ErMaC's method is the easiest in my opinion, but it takes time if you have a slow PC like I do. Oh yes, and the ONLY problem I had with ErMaC's method was that I had used a newer version of DVD2AVI (Which won't work with ErMaC's method..), and it wouldn't read the d2v files in the AVS scripts correctly.

ErMaC is the god of making things cohereant, more or less.

By the way, VCDHELP is only good for one thing, DVD player hacks. Anyone who can't figure out how to use their capture card correctly doesn't have the right to use one in my opinion.

"God of making things coherent"? Oh dear.

I'll say that I can usually explain very things in ways that people can eventually understand but often times I try to do too much and explain things that people don't need. I just have this personal philosophy that I should explain the WHY instead of the how. I.e. instead of just saying that MJPEG sucks compareed to DV I want to explain how they both work and why one is better than the other so that people can understand the reasoning behind any recommendations I give.
Unfortunately this can just confused some people and so in the new guide we're going to try to have some brief summaries of important points for those too impatient to reac the whole thing. It's not something I relish doing but hopefully it will make the guide more accessible.

As I said before i even started my previous post, I'm not trying to offend anyone. I was mearly stating how it was for me. And speed has nothing to do with what i use. Oh well. :?

I've always ripped them by recording all the scenes I want onto a camera and then using a firewire card and port to export those scenes into my computer with Pinnacle 7. Try that.
