Also I have never seen any .pss files when I 'explore' the PS2 game in my DVD drive. Does anyone know why this might be?
Does the methods outlined in this FAQ, ignoring the parts that are obviously system specific, work for PSX disks as well?

Most, if not all, psx discs can be read with psmplay or anything else.

The movies themselves don't have the subtitles on most occasions. Its usually programmed to run in game only, not just when the movie plays.

Its just not encoded in .pss format. Some companies (such as sony) probably do leave it in .pss, but a lot will tend to go a different way.

:cry: sorry about that...

Also, I think i made a bit of a discovery... any game that DVD Decrypter doesn't read the name of, doesn't seem to work for this whole process. For FFX-2, it read the name of the disc as FFX2 (or something like that). I've tried this with Kingdom Hearts and Xenosaga, and their disc name never appeared in DVD Decrypter. They also did not work for ripping anything. I did not come across the problem in Xenosaga that we have seen in KH where the program just stops. It merely does not pick up on anything... so i believe we're dealing with multiple encryptions here.

I'm going to try a few more PS2 games to test my theory... i'll get back to you guys ASAP.

I really only tested the method with FFX and FFX-2.

Me = fraud :cry:
