Oh no AD I found a bug! Well not really a bug but a definite misshap.

In your test file such as the IVTC file you give the adresses for the plugins already installed like the mpeg and decomb dll but they point to the wrong directory!

The installer makes a folder called C:\AVSFilters but in your scripts they point too C:\AVSPlugins! A folder that doesn't exist!

Now, given this isn't rocket science to fix, it iesn't a big deal but I thought you should know.

OK, I've changed it but I haven't added it to the installer yet. I obviously changed my mind about what to call the Dir :)

However there is a more prominent bug:

THIS PLUGIN DOES NOT CURRENTLY WORK WITH PREMIERE 5

Sorry folks, we broke backwards compatibility but we think it should be easy to fix so wait a day or so.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks to Ikasu for letting us know :)

Yes there should be a bugfix out in a few days folks...

Also, I've just spent about 6 hours coding and if it will work at all like I think it does (haven't gotten it to compile yet but we will tomorrow) you'll all be in for a treat.

Not too sound like an asshole or anything, but is this really necessary?

I can clearly remember Ermac stating numerous times how newbies are lazy to figure things out and blah blah. Now we have this? All this does is install all the necessary files into their proper locations. AVISynth isn't hard and it isn't hard to set up so we can edit with vob's. All this is going to do is make stupid newbies that don't want to learn even lazier!

Good intentions, but I don't deem this necessary.

Or maybe you guys were just tired of newbies asking these questions so you did this? :P

Please correct me if I missed anything that this plugin does.......

The plugin pack is there because 1) a new version of AVIsynth fixes a memory usage problem (no more closing and opening premiere) 2) it installs the plugin 3) creates example AVS scripts.

The plugin itself fixed all the previous bugs that the plugin itself had.

If your beef is with the installer, we're making it that much harder to screw things up for a newbie.

1) Never had that problem.

2) I installed them myself just fine.

3) Your guide was more than enough to create my own and explore with adding shit to the script.

It wasn't really that hard to screw up to begin with, but whateva'.

Don't get me wrong, it's cool that you guys are taking the time to do this kind of shit, but I guess this is gonna make newbies even lazier....and that's were my beef is.

Well, put it this way. I have gone through the instructions on how to do this for people on AIM.

Step by step, very slowly.

Some people just aren't very good at this sort of thing. It's one thing not reading a manual but registering files and copying stuff to system directories etc etc - that's different.

Also it saves people the time in downloading a different thing.

It also saves me time explaining it to people over and over. Just cause it's easy for you doesnt mean it's easy for everyone.

"but whateva'. "

 Whoa, sweet work!

I am one of those 'bad' encoders that uses flask to go from vobs->huffy...

But, I figure with all these improvements I think it's time to at least give the vob->premiere method a try. Thanks Ian! Your hard work is much appreciated (maybe more than you can even imagine!)

8) Very cool.
I have sinned. I made a video I wanted to make that was music + anime + sync + action + effects/transitions. Oh lordy.

There's nothing wrong with vobs -> huffy. Hopefully we can make the vobs -> premiere method even faster so it's better for editing. That's the main goal, so stay tuned :)

There's nothing wrong with vobs->huffy, ian, but you shouldn't use flask to do it. :) Also you'd have to keep full resolution otherwise you're still losing quality.

yeah I encode my huffys at 720x480... they eat up a ton of space... but it doesn't really bother me much.

Is flask that bad for video? It deinterlaces nicely... :P

I am guessing you have answered this a million times before...

Thanks for the work you guys have done...smart guide, Ermac. To the point. And if you guys keep on with this hard work, why, we'll never have to ask around in teh forums for help anymore.
