Well... letting the jokes go for a minute, I don't know if any of you guys have been in touch in the past weeks to organize the panel: it would be probably a good idea to start some email discussion about the contents and leave the public forum.

For the rest, I partially agree with what said above by Dokool and MJ about how the advanced panel is supposed to be more on the technical side... I am just concerned that, by talking about advanced avisynth stuff, AE and methods for editing from VOBs, we'll make sense just for us and 2 or 3 people in the audience.

From what I've seen last year, most of the people attending never made an AMV or were just at the beginnings: parachuting them right into AVS looks a little scary to me (considered that we have just one hour for that)

Well... just my .02$

We've discussed starting up a listserv for the panels, but my site has been down for the last few days and I can't currently use the mailing list functions on it just yet. Once it's back up to full I'll set it up so we can toss things around there.

Focussing in too closely on any one program is a danger we want to avoid- but it will be inevidible that some questions will have to be answered rather specifically by their nature. Ideally, the way I would envision things working would be for us to make not of any questions that are too in-depth for the 'general' panel and ask that the questioner come to the advanced panel so we can answer it then. What we end up talking about will be very heavily dependant on what people what to know about. For things that we expect we'll likely to get asked about (masking, interlacing, aspect ratio, etc.) I believe the plan is to have materials prepared for the panels, but we'll have to be prepared to answer just about anything that gets asked. We're planning to have CDs with most if not all of the materials we have for the panel as well as a number of the common references and utilities (Vdub, the AMVApp, local copy of E & AD's guide, etc.) so people will have something of a starting point.

As for things like AviSynth, I'd like to not get very much into it in the basic panel other than a simple explanation of what it is and that there are basic instructions on how to use it in the guide. I believe we have a good range of panelists who can discuss a number of different approaches to both the theoretical and the technical aspects so we should be able to field most anything that comes up.

You'd better. I flew all the way down to Texas, it should be no large effort for you to fly to the northeast.

And send them to large conventions so that you know people will see them.
