I will have to discuss this with the other staff members. Last year we showed it on a DVD but I was not on staff back then. I believe we may have a projector at the convention so I will look into the possibility of using that with a computer instead of the DVD

ok, thanks. if I need to convert my final video to a different frame rate for dvd output, I'd prefer to do it myself before sending it. thanks for looking into that for us.

you're showing the final copies on a dvd? that seems odd. the vids would have to comform to the dvd player, so does that mean anyone submitting a video as 24fps progressive would have it converted to 30fps interlaced? that wouldn't be too great, so I hope that's not the case.

Well, if you're encoding to MPEG-2, you just have to set the 3:2 pulldown flag and that's it -- no conversion needed.

what about the frame rate? will it let you put amvs of different frame rates on that one dvd? and if it's to be shown on a tv, unless it's a hacked dvd player, doesn't the frame rate have to match the tv?

I want to help support your contest, and if I have this latest project I'm tickering with done before your deadline (and I don't see why I won't) I would like to enter it into your amv contest.

I was just wondering would I, invalidate my entry from of qualifying for an award because I will not be in attendance to receive a prize. I just wanted to make sure I could potentially receive the recognition if I won an award. That's all I'm really asking.

-You can enter your AMV by Emailing your Link to: marykgoddess@excite.com

(This is my AMV Submission MailBox) ^_^ Or you can also email me your link (Local or Direct) from your profile at animemusicvideos.org.

Any chance of internet/FTP or whatever submission? I'm both lazy and broke-not a good combination.

I am the Perfect Soldier, or Suzuki AkiraAMV editor learning the trade as fast as I can. Making AMV's? Mission accepted. My Profile and all my videos can be found here: <http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_myprofile.php?user_id=118399> Okay, I think it works this time...

-We have an "AMV Over flow" AMV Creators who do not want their AMV submitted into the AMV Contest, and just want Other OTAKU to see their Beautiful Work. ^_^ Or want to submit more than two AMVs.

-We are thinking about planning a Beginners/ Rookie AMV Contest
(This Has not been Confermed Yet) -Depending on how many AMVs we have.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I will make an effort to finish the video I spoke of in time for your contest deadline.

on the entry form, you ask for "Name, as you would like it to appear in the credits." does this mean you want the videos to be submitted without credits and you will the credits yourself? or is it ok to include our own credits at the end of our video?

also, can you clarify what you mean here: "To avoid cutting off some of your video when we re-record it make sure to leave about 15 seconds of blank tape at each end of the video." is this just for VHS entries, which will be captured onto a computer, or are you asking that digital copies also include blank space at the beginning and end of the video?

-Jashiwi

-Deadline has been taken to March 28th.

-You can have beginning Credits and Ending Credits. ^_^ All AMVs will Need 15 Seconds of Black.

The 15 Seconds of Black is for AMV Creators who do not have Opening Credits or Ending Credits -Plus the 15 seconds of black (Blank Film) - is intended for the use of placing Titles/ Credits inbetween each Submitted AMV. -To make the AMV Contest DVD more easier to Make as a Whole, for presentation. ^_^

The rules state that the digital submissions must "use a standard format that can be played on a windows based operation system." Does this include MPEG-2 or HuffYUV? Those are the two formats I make all my con-quality copies in, and I'd like to know if I'll need to convert to another format before submitting.

That's good news. Would you like a specific frame rate or bitrate, or does it not matter?

-MPEG-2 and HuffYUV is Okay.
(As long as the AMV does not exceed 200. MB When Finalized) ^_^

-The Frame rate does not Matter.

I don't see why we shouldn't have an AMV Rookie Section.

I'll place it in the AMV Contest. ^_^

I'm still a bit confused. if our video already includes credits, and it is a digital submission, how is it that it would need 15 seconds of blank space. for example, an average one of my amvs will already have 5 or so seconds of credits at the end. wouldn't adding another 15 seconds of black screen just put too much space between that video and the one after it? I understand needing the blank space for videos that do not have credits so that you can add them yourselves, but I don't follow the reason to add empty space to a video that doesn't need to have credits added.

I'm confused too. You shouldn't have to add black space for digital submissions. It's just unnessicary.

norskotaku: It seems the executive decision is to show AMVs on a compilation DVD so you should convert your frame rate. I apologize for any inconveniences this creates. The decision seems to be out of my hands.
