True scene selection might not completely match up
but, there will be the advantage of time on your side.
But, sure I'll follow the rules to the letter and wait for
the die roll. Sorry, I'm a loop kind-of-guy took numerous
business courses.

So you should also use the 24 hour period to encode your MJPEGs to edit with.</li>

You have time to prep your footage.

Hey Atom, you may wanna specify as to what ripping/prepping is.
When Taskmastah and I first battled, we ran into a big problem (and eventually threw out the match) because what I had thought pre prep meant was to rip VOBs, make my D2Vs and then start editing on the fly when the bell rang, however, Task doesn’t edit that way, and did what he (and alot of others) are familiar with, which is to rip vobs, convert them to larger Huffys, and then cut and save the scenes he wanted.
While that's totally valid normally, it gives that editor a huge advantage due to the fact that he has 24 hours to think about and look for the best scenes to fit the vid, reducing the actual Iron Chef to dragging and dropping your clips onto the timeline. (this is in no way meant to badmouth Task. He's by far the most difficult man I’ve ever faced, as well as being one of the best editors out there. It was just a communication mix up that I hope to avoid this time around with this post :D ).

Also as a possibility, you may wish to allow both contestants to edit in this manner, as it makes for a much more "complete" end result.

As an example:

Here is my first match with Task while editing on the fly.
(we only had one hour for this one, and I was definitely not feeling it :()

And here is my second match with him, with 1 hour's worth of clip gathering prep time.
(this one was a 2-hour battle)

If you'll notice, the second one feels much more like an actual vid and less of a chunk.

While you have you have 24hrs for video prep you actually find out the song just before the battle so in this case any scene selection would be blind guessing.

Yeah as Corran stated, regardless of how you decide to rip/prep your footage (just doing the entire DVD like I do it, or just clipping your scenes), you still have the same amount of time to look for scenes. So if you do it my way, you could just as easily scrub through and write down times where certain scenes take place. Since you don't know the song until just before the edit time starts, either way will work (hell, clipping might even be a disadvantage since you may clip all action scenes and get a slow non-action'y (the adjective of the day :P) song. So, that's why I reccomend just ripping the whole movie, MJPEG'ing the whole thing, and editing from that.

Anyways!! It looks like we have our 16th contestant!! WOOHOO!! I am now going to get the brackets set up and will make a Round 1 thread in about an hour. Good luck to everybody!!

And remember, the SEEDING IS RANDOM! Just wanted to re-itterate.

Pwolf makes a good point. If anybody simply wants to win this tournament by default, I have no problem compromising my ethics and screwing over everyone else for around $200 via PayPal.
