You probably have a better chance than I ever will of getting to do it.

I'm not bitter at all. I SWEAR.

Wow! I should read the boards more often. Didn't know there were posts directed to me:

SQ wrote:If dwchange were a mod, do you think he'd have to post in the mod drop box so many times? I think not.

Well ya know, *if* I were a mod, maybe I'd drop things in the mod box just to fool you guys into thinking I wasn't a mod. And then afterwards, I could just go about fixing what I asked for.

Could it be? Dun Dun DUNNNNNNNNNNN!!

(The greatest part is when a mod comes and mods this. My money is on 467 )

SQ wrote:Really? Well, if he has a doubt of anybody, I'm always willing. I've always wanted to do Iron Chef ever since I figured out that you were talking about AMVs and not cooking.

I dunno why, I just like Iron Chef.. And want to be able to create a vid in 2 hours. Maybe even a kick-ass vid. But meh, I'm a n00b and you probably wouldn't want me anyway.

But hell, I'm always available as back-up. Even if I'm not at the con for some [nonsentical reason] Quu can have my phone number and call me up for all I care as some back-up person. Because I'm only 10 minutes away...

I mean, [if one of the competitors didn't show up, ] I'm always available as a back-up.

Be careful what you wish for.

Trust me when I say that Iron Chef is easiliy the most stressful contest I have ever done. I'm sure Hsien, Ian, Justin and Tim would all agree with me on this.

Sure it seems fun from the audience end, but those two hours are easiliy some of the most stressful in my life (OK maybe that's an exaggeration). Trying to remember where certain scenes are, trying to integrate the secret ingredient in, trying to make it fit a "theme" and so on. It's *not* easy. Why do you think most of us are drinking during it?

Don't get me wrong though, it's quite an honor to compete in it and it's fun to see what people can come up with, but it's still very stressful and a part of me doesn't look forward to doing it again. Don't take that as me wanting to lose this year though :).

For all I know, you might be my challenger. Quu *still* hasn't told me my challenger even though Hsien and Ian know

Her eh? You just gave me a hint, but you knew that. Not to be mean, but there aren't that many female editors and thus I can narrow it down.

BTW I think I already talked to you about this. I kind of need to know who my challenger is since I have a few plans like panels and interviews (from my friends that work on staff and are in charge of the newsletter..i.e. free advertising).

I guess I can talk to you in private as I have been. Just no AIM here.

And BTW SQ, Quu is right. It's not only about skill. Sure it's a competition, but first and foremost it's a show. It's there to entertain the audience for two hours and no matter how good of an editor you are...some aren't the best with a time limit (i.e a lot of AE work and so on). I think the one thing I did successfully was entertain the audience with my drunken antics in Photoshop -_-;;. I think Ashyukun and Trythil can attest to this :(.

Meri?

Anyway, I know it's stressful, I've put a timelimit on myself before. And personally, I like having a time limit on myself. I've finished an AMV in two hours(albeit a crappy AMV, but it was still done) and afterwards I watch it and it's still a watchable AMV. I mean, it's not one you would loop continuosly or anything, but it's still better than some other AMVs.

Anyway, what I guess I'm trying to say is, if I cared about it being stressful, I wouldn't have asked/told about my "dream" of being Iron Chef. =|

But yeah, the truth is, it really is for entertainment purposes rather than skill(IMO), So I probably wouldn't be able to get up there unless I won something big. Or 90% of the people who read my posts on the forum and my journal entries finally discovered I made AMVs. Or something to that effect.

And if it's not Meri, it's probably Hakura.

They probably Don't even know this topic exists... Just like dqchang didn't. :?

And anyway, that was a great time for you to say "It is, isn't it?" and I had the perfect comeback for that: "Very."

All good choices, but I'm friends with Meri and no, no such thing. I should know since I'm trying to get her and Mike to come to ACen.

SQ wrote:So I probably wouldn't be able to get up there unless I won something big.

I'm not trying to sound arrogant, but Iron Chef was actually my first "win" in a competition and you could argue it's not a standard contest and thus I was a loser even afterwards :). My first awards were this summer with Animethon and more importantly (Vlad is gonna cry reading that) Otakon.

So, I guess what I'm getting at is you don't have to win big awards or be OMGWTF awesome at editing. I mean look at me :-P. If you can put on a good show, you have just a good of a chance as everyone else. So don't be discouraging like that (to yourself).
