AMV Iron Chef - ACen, AWA...how'd we do?

Postby greggo4randy » Fri Oct 17, 2003 2:42 am

Greggo here. Along with David Williams, I hosted the Iron Chef AMV editing contest at Anime Central and Anime Weekend Atlanta this year. After the AWA contest, David and I were made the "official" presenters of the contest.

So basically...how did we do? What would you like to see us do in future? I'm relatively new to the whole Anime Music Video fandom, but not to the whole Making A Fun Event thing, so I'd like to here some input from you, the people who make it so that I have something fun to co-host.

Talk ta me. =)

You did a great job. Sorry I wasn't a more amiable contestant - I was fucking terrified ^^;;;

Everyone sounded like they had lots of fun - it was very distracting when trying to make videos :)

I'm very glad you're doing it next year - it was a great event.

Yea... Dave has become a staple judge at Iron Chefs... and after Acen and AWA I decided to ask (and he aceepted) for greggo to be the permanent host of it....

it just worked so well with the crowds...

the more we do the show... the better it gets

It was entertaining enough that I sometimes neglected my editing in order to listen to the gameshow :)

Having seen both ACen's and AWA's Iron Chef competitions, I can wholeheartedly say I can't wait to see the next one- and largely because of you and David (and the other panelists, who are always amusing). I didn't see the previous IC's before you started hosting them, so I can't see them without the Gameshow element to them. Using AMVs as part of the gameshow was a really sharp idea and I think both audiences I've been a part of have enjoyed it immensely. Keep up the good work!

Err...get back to me on that. I was a bit busy editing -_-;;.

I guess I agree with Hsien and Ian. It was a bit hard to concentrate when one's videos are up and while you're also listening to the gameshow and thinking of the answers :P. By the way, this by no means does this mean you shouldn't do it. It means we should learn how to concentrate :-P

I'd like to thank you for your hard work. I think you were a large reason I had such a large audience at ACen and people didn't leave. Because of that, the con heads have decided it was a success and may give us an even bigger room and better time.

So again, thank you for making it a success for the first year at ACen.

One suggestion:
Loop Daniel Chang's "Evolution" for the entirety of the ACen contest. Just make up a whole gameshow based completely around that video.

Oh HELL NO! I would be aggravated and annoyed the entire time. You could make it worse and just loop the "piano key" part and have the fanboys go "ooh...ahhh!" There is not enough alcohol to drown myself in and I'd just strangle myself with the mouse cord.

maybe we should get a midi based paino into the Acen iron chef... and tie it to a direct show filter... and one of the contest would be in yoru honor

they would have to get the paino keeys right for the video ebign shown... and it would applyt he effect to the video ont he screen in real time...

it would be called DWCing a video

A Midi piano. I love it.

/me makes mental note to make sure to encourage whoever is the ACen challenger to use lots of 'piano keys'. And a lens flare. 8)

That's not what the fanboys say...which sucks :(. Kwasek already got me for that. I'm sure Wonka's revenge will come soon as well

I still don't get where this "lens flare" thing came from. Everyone knows that's Vic's thing. I think throughout all my videos, I've used it...4 times. My guess is the fact my Iron Chef video having one is causing this.

Then again, those asshats asked me to do it before the contest and I was stupid (drunk) enough to say "yes."
