Enable HTML code within Video Descriptions

Postby dwchang » Fri Oct 03, 2003 1:06 pm

Shouldn't be too difficult to implement, but I thought it'd be nice to have access to HTML code and commands within our Video descriptions. It's already enabled on our profiles.

It'd be real nice to have stuff like the "bold" command (<B>) to point out things of importance like spoilers or things that might help reviewers (like something you really want them to know before watching) and also to be able to include links to things like inspirations, pictures used, etc. I know you could put the link anyway, but having the "blue" tags and so on would really draw attention.

I hope my assumptions that it wouldn't be that difficult to implment are correct and I think it'd be something pretty useful. I for one write very long video descriptions and would love to highlight key points.

Stupid mods not even fixing my post even though I used the "MOD Drop Box."

Maybe I should message phade later tonight since that's a more convenient way to bounce ideas :)

You could use caps lock or asterisks for emphasis... although some people don't like caps lock and asterisks get in the way... but yeah, html code would make video information better. it would be cool to have image source links so that the viewers can see previews of the amv to check out video quality and digital effects before downloading.

Actually I chatted with Phade about it the other night and he said it wouldn't be all that difficult to do. He did mention he had some grievances about the possibility of abuse. I then asked "What do you mean?" and he said "BRB." That was 4 nights ago and I'm still waiting for him to come back :-P.

I'll bug him about it tonight. He seemed keen with it, but again...something about abuse. My guess is linking inappropraite images. If that's the case, just limit it to underline, bold and italics. That's all anyone really needs to point a viewer to critical information that may help them enjoy or understand something. I get too many questions about something and this would help greatly.

Hey All,

In case you haven't noticed, the following tags are allowed in video descriptions now:

a, i, u, b, em, strong, strike

It's about time... ;-)

Dumb question - what are 'a, em, strong, strike' ? I got the i, u, b - but what do the others stand for?
