Anime clips

Postby ssjvegitto » Mon Aug 19, 2002 1:33 am

Does anyone know a good site or just about any site that has anime clips that are downloadable. I just wanted to know where most people get their material from. I tried searching online but i usually can't find anything usable, and don't want to search thousands or sites that have nothing.

Most people get their footage from DVDs they purchase online or at Best Buy, Suncoast, Sam Goody, or elsewhere. Or they use fansubs which are series being subbed by anime fans and not readily available outside of Japan. These are free-like, but have questionable video quality and usually contain subtitles. No one here is going to tell you where you can get anime clips for free online, unless they're moronic. Track them down yourself (bad idea if you want to make an AMV with them) or buy the actual tapes. I'd say this question should go elsewhere, but it is such a bad question, I'd rather a mod deleted it.

Happy hunting  !

P.S. Let me guess, Dragonball/Z/GT/stupid is the series you were wanting clips of?

This is definitively the wrong forum to ask for clips. Well, actually there is no forum to ask for them (maybe general video) so oh well...

1) If you wanna clips, then buy the DVDs. Superior quality and plus you retain the anime :D

2) If you can't afford that and you really, really REALLY want to make a video then try to install Winmx and search for some raws (so you don't have to deal with subtitles).

3) If you start making AMVs, please don't flood the help forums with "how do I use Premiere" questions :P
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

And don't forget...this question gets asked about 4365340236 times per day.

KaZaA, Morpheus, or other p2p programs.

I can guarantee you that, like, 98% of the stuff you find has quality that Sucks, but if you're cheap and desperate, go ahead and try...

I strongly recommend getting the DVDs. I used to use downloaded junk too and it's just not worth it. Trust me.

I am 1) new to this board and 2) am new at AMV making. Me and two of my friends are making an AMV, which is coming along OK for a first time. I have many ideas for future AMVs. One of which might be a fun expirement using SpongeBob Squarepants (I know its not anime but is a very cool show) and might use the song "Ha Ha You're Dead" by Greenday. The big question is, where do I get the clips? Did I mention I'm new at this?

step 1: Open up your fave p2p program (kazaa, winmx, etc) and search for Spongebob. You'll probably find a bunch of eps, but most of them will be in sucky quality or unusable formats.

step 2: If you can't get enough source that way, buy a cheap capture card. This will run you ~$30-$60 depending on how little you want it to suck.

step 3: Tape the show off TV.

step 4: Connect the video out of your VCR to the video in of your capture card, and use VirtualDub to capture your clips. You could also record directly from your TV this way if you want to get your clips in pure digital (or as pure as it's gonna get).

If Spongebob is available on DVD, you should rent those if you can and rip from there, obviating most of the steps above. Even official VHS is better than broadcast-quality, but you'll probably want to buy rather than rent those for best quality. Degrades can become visible on VHS after as little as five viewings on a standard-quality VCR; what few videos I make from analog source I try to capture on the second viewing of the tape.
