Leaving all 1's in the opinin scores...

Postby Tom the Fish » Sat Aug 17, 2002 9:18 am

Some Einstein (http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... r_id=12916 to be exact) left me all 1's across the board in the scores and left this opinion on my vid at http://www.animemusicvideos.org/legacy/video.php?v=9993:

"umm.. i dunno if it was the encoding or you have an incomplete or messed up file on the server but this vid is seriosuly jacked up, it plays at like 2fps and theres no sound its completely unwatchable. i dont think the video was suposed to be like this, its probably just an incomplete file or something but as is its horrid"

I'd call that pretty in pretty poor taste and don't understand why someone with a 178 in the opinion score would leave that instead of contacting me privately with the problem instead of dragging my score down.

I'd call that person an idiot, as s/he doesn't seem to understand that there is a major difference between editing issues and encoding issues.

Talk to that person, or, if that doesn't work (judging from the opinion, it doesn't sound like it'll work), contact Phade.

You have an extra ':' at the end of your link, Tom. And yes, something weird happened to your video, although I just mostly took off on the review score and capture score for that. Overall I thought it was a video with a good concept, just something funky happened to it. And I did say that if you can fix whatever went wrong I'd be happy to rereview it.

Even if a video is not showing properly, a reviewer should not just leave all 1s, that's listed in the opinion guide as an 'ignorant opinion'. The method for taking care of it is also listed in the FAQs.

Write the person who gave the opinion a NICE note asking them to change their score. If they refuse, contact Phade about it with a copy of the nice note you sent and he will take action on your behalf.

The guy who gave you the bad review obviously isnt great with numbers, so cut him some slack. He has six series listed under "Top 5 Anime" in his profile.

I had a similar once. My solution to avoid such comments in the future was to write something like "If you have any problems while downloading and/or playing this video, please report to me via e-mail" in all my video profiles.

as for thje guy that left all 1's, if you look, his average scores given are never higher than a 6. that means most of his reviews gave scores 5 or under, with maybe a 9 or 10 smattered about. btw tom, I also use a powerbook g4 for editing, my first vid was done in iMovie. If you need any help at all, just email me at chibijosh13@mac.com, ive worked out alot of the bug that you have run into.

Well, he's refused to change his score...

Thanks for the advice all. I'll be contacting Phade.
