Dang Anime pirates tricked me!

Postby Sidicas » Sun Aug 17, 2003 6:57 pm

(I thought I posted this before but it didn't show up so I'll try again. Sorry in advance if it shows up twice)
I just cut up about $80 worth of my DVDs making up more than 60% of my Anime DVD
ollection (not much, but I am a college student with loans)...
Every DVD I got off of ebay turned out to be a pirate. ex: I had a "region 0"
Ah! My Goddess Movie DVD by "Anime Cartoon International". I didn't notice until I really
looked at the box that they also had a dvd_animation@yahoo.com company e-mail address.
It looks as real as real can look. Holo-sticker, thick waxed insert paper,
beautful ultra-high resolution deep colored printing (not a sticker) on the top of the disc, etc.
I paid almost $18 for it.
Those bastards need to burn in hell.
In the subtitles they even called "Skuld" "Scotty". WTF!?!?!?
Burn in hell x2!!!
There are still about a dozen active auctions on ebay (now that the movie is kinda old, these dvds are selling for about $6 each) at this moment selling this pirated DVD alone.

I only buy anime over the counter, never the net. Easier to know it's real that way and not a Pirated copy. But I do feel for you. My GF has had to put up with some stuff like that.

go to half price books and vids stores. They sell anime DVDs for between $10 - $15. I just found the entire Trigun box set for $80 - US release, not pirated. Seletion is random, but for those prices it is worth it.

I have emailed ebay, viz com, and adv letting them know about the pirated dvds (as if ebay didn't know  ) and asking why is that allowed to go on? I didn't get a response from any of them.

Ebay will never shut down the pirated auctions. Those sellers pay their fees, as you can tell by the 1000's of feedback they have. They sell hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise everyday. Ebay gets listing and seller's fees from all that.

Ebay is truly covered in asian organized crime/blackmarket stink.

You get what you pay for. Ebay is know for items that look real realistic but arn't, being sold. I saw it on some court show and now after hearing your story I'm thinking twice about ordering anything from them.

Actually, its pretty easy to spot the Hacked stuff - the originals don't
use Engish for anything ( look at the Pictures that they provide ^^ )
Next, keep in mind that Dual Translations are impossible:
- English & Chinese, French & English, Chinese & German, Spanish and French.
Third . . ALL Region - bull! ^^

I'm guessing they can't do anything about "imports" even if they are bootlegs.
