What is better for making AMV a capture card or ripping it? I dont want to lose quality and i want my work to have good if not great quality

Riping = no loss in quality over the source material

Capturing = some potential loss depending on the quality of the utilized hardware and cabling.

so jbone how can i convert Vob into a file that i can use in premiere?

Umm... in this case you should probably capture the footage...

you shouldn't capture the footage......just read ermac's guide...that way you don't loose anything....of course, then you need the space on the HD for all the vobs, but its well worth it if you can get it to work correctly.

I don't use a capture card anymore, but one of the main problems I found with using one if you don't defrag beforehand, is dropping frames.

dvd2avi is good for converting ripped dvd files to avis (hence the name)
