I have 2 favorites at the moment, both J-Rock songs though. :)

One of them I'm probably going to use next in an AMV. It's 'HURT' by Luna Sea. It is the most depressing rock song I have ever heard. In my opinion, it's even more depressing than what even X Japan and Dir en grey have come up with. The whole thing just echoes through your ears and into your brain. And whenever Ryuichi croons the high notes, a shiver runs up and down my spine. It's a pretty long song I remember as well, more than 5 minutes and the ending instrumentals interestingly enough pan across the speaker channels. I'm almost tempted to hook up a surround sound set up to see if it would pan across all of them.

The other one is 'setsuna sa yorimo tooku he' by Siam Shade, it blasts off and keeps the fast pace throughout, the music video is like all flashing and strobing too. And hideki sings so fast it's a wonder he even has time to draw breath, although fortunately for him there's a very nice guitar interlude a bit after the middle. It's just a really fast-paced rock song which is probably why it's under 4 minutes.

ErMaC wrote:No that's not a typo, that's a grammatical error. If you had typed "yoir favorite" or "yuor favorite" that would be a typo, because a typo is when you simply hit the wrong keys while intending to have everything else correct. For instance:

I have to got o the store. - typo, "to go to" - misplaced space.

I had there cakes and they were good. - not a typo, you aren't gonna mix up the keys when typing "there" or "their" - the i key is too far from r or e. That is a grammatical mistake.

Thus it is not a typo.

Man, I gave my grammar mojo on right now.

Ok, so I made a mistake! STFU!!!!

Officially it's "One" by U2, because it has an uplifting yet somewhat melancholy sound, and a lyric that can be taken as uplifting OR melancholy depending on how you read it. I also like songs that start out quiet and build up to a fuller sound, which that does. It's kind of spare, but ... melodic.

Though the Smiths' "Shoplifters of the World Unite" a big, relatively bright anthem of a song) isn't far behind.

"Man, I gave my grammar mojo on right now."

Don't mean to be picky, ErMaC, but that doesn't grammatically make any sense. Now I'll assume it's a typo although I could say you used the wrong word and were mistaken :D . If you had excluded the word "on," then it would have made sense, just sounded weird. Or if you had written "have" instead of "gave". :P

As for favorite song... I don't have just one. That would be near impossible. My favorite depends on my mood.

When I'm feeling angry... "Master of Puppets" by Metallica because it is so furious.

When I want to listen to an awesome ballad... "Fiddler on the Green" by Demons and Wizards.

When I feel like listening to 80s music... "Sunday Bloody Sunday" by U2.

Well I'm felling solemn... "Cursum Perficio" by Enya.

Something happier... "In a Lifetime (feat. Bono)" by Clannad.

So I'd have to say those are the five songs that I'd basically call my favorite :P .

fave song: gods this is hard. "Empty Words" by Death unless it's 3 in the morning, I've just finished something, all the windows are open, the lights are out, and there's a cold wind coming through.....in the which case "At The Heart Of Winter" by Immortal isn't a luxury, it's a NECESSITY.

fave non-metal song: "Untitled 3" by Kawashima Mirai. Nifty techno from the mad genius behind Sigh.

fave song I've actually done as an AMV: "Skyland" by Solar Signs. Maybe this should be a tie with "Zombie Ritual" by Death.

fave song I haven't done as an AMV --yet....: "In The Wordless Chamber" by Emperor. hehe...wait for this one, it's gonna slaughter.

fave songs you can actually get from this post:

Agalloch rules. Buy their stuff, even if you aren't into metal.
