Smart ripper, help!

Postby DuoEnigma » Fri Aug 16, 2002 2:24 am

Okay i ripped some footage but i have two problems

1) The quality doesn't look good, it has lines and it skips frames

2) Premiere doesn't let me import it

Less details, please.

Anyway...

(1) You can't import VOBs directly into Premiere, if that's what you're trying to do.

(2) The lines that you speak of are interlaced fields. Frame skipping may be the result of nearly anything, and I can't really determine just what the problem is without more information.

Also:

REFG.

Actually, change #1. You CAN edit VOBs directly using AVIsynth and an MPEG-2 decoder. But, again, REFG.

More info, okay

I would like to know how can i turn these vob or whatever into mpeg files or anyother format so that i can import it inside premiere. Hey i just know how to rip the source, but i don't have a clue as in what all these files and settings are.The only guide that I have found was at Door9 about smartrip, but it doesn't go into detail as in telling me how much control i have over this software. and as far as i know REFG doesn't necessary discuss smartrip

Why do you need to stop the interlacing? The interlacing is there because NTSC is interlaced. If you want to get rid of it later for online distro, simply deinterlace it once you're done with your video. But if you plan on submitting to contests or something as MPEG2 then you want to leave it interlaced anyways.

Read my guides to understand what interlacing is.
