Anime Boston Documentary @ Otakon!

Postby AsukaFanGirl » Sun Aug 03, 2003 2:41 pm

Hey kids, it's the Otakon boards fave Documentary gal! Our dircetor has asked me to inform you kids that we'll be selling copies of the Anime Boston 2K3: The Unofficial Documentary at this year's Otakon. It's about 60 minutes in length and will be going for an AFFORDABLE $10! We'll only have 25 to sell so make sure you find us ASAP if you want one! *winks*

Find us at the lobby of the Whyndam Inner Harbor Hotel between 5pm - 9pm on Thursday, August 7th. If you miss, look for us at the BCC in random locations.

FEAR NOT! If you can't make Otakon...copies will be available in September for on-line orders...I'll keep in touch.

We will also be filming a documenray of Otakon 2K3 and those will be available this coming Winter! Check out our posting information at the Otakon web board, the Anime Boston web board or the respective LJ communities for either convention: Anime Boston LJ * Otakon LJ

How does a person opt out of being in the documentary, if such events occur to cause an individual's possible inclusion?
"If someone feels the need to 'express' himself or herself with a huge graphical 'singature' that has nothing to do with anything, that person should reevaluate his or her reasons for needing said form of expression, possibly with the help of a licensed mental health practitioner."

An example of what? Of not wanting to be filmed?

I'm not talking about "a specific situation," I'm talking about absolutely.

I don't care about the rules and regulations. Sheesh.

And being a film student doesn't automatically. give anyone more credibility than, say, being a burger-flipper.

Look, I'm sorry...do not harrass me. I'm merely his girlfriend helping him out with a school project. If you have ISSUES take them up with him. He can explain to you what sort of pre-cautions to take if you wish to avoid being filmed and he can also explain what liberties he has in this situation...since it is a PUBLIC place and everybody has agreed to be there he has more leway then, say, filming somebody's house.

Might I suggest that you keep this civil should you wish to avoid any confrontations with him.

Me, keep it civil? You're the one who appears to have flipped out. ^_^

Happening to be standing in a crowd as the camera passes me is one thing, but I absolutely do not want to ever be the focus of the camera.

WOuld anyone have a problem with this if they were NOT selling it ?

thats my real beef. after the ushicon and akon vids by random/variable, why would you want to pay for a documentary.

also ... animeboston was overcrowded, the amv contest sucked, and HOT AS FREAKEN HELL. I cant see how they could make a documentary out of it.

If I am on any of that tape , then I do plan to sue. take that to your DIRECTOR.

Where cowards make idle threats.
1. If you were going to sue the director on what ground would you do so? If you were interviewed you signed a release. If you weren’t interviewed its public domain. The Park Plaza hotel being a public place open to the public give anyone the right to film you. Also you are going to spend how much on court costs, a lawyer (or maybe you will represent yourself, that would be a hoot from your excellent command of privacy law thus far) to get what? See that's just it, you don't know what the going rate for breach of privacy law is, which this isn't. Say it was and you won, could I appeal? You don't know. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.
2. How would you know if you were in such documentary when you yourself asked why anyone wold purchase such a thing? Surely you would not purchase it or even watch it since it is such a waste of time.

on to Jbone

If you don't want to be interviewed when we ask you if you want to filmed, say no! Is that so hard? Do you have to make spectacle on the ever so popular board yelling at someone who told you not once, but 5 times to contact the director. Why didn't you contact the director like anyone who has enough intelligence to wipe their own ass.

If you don't want the documentary, don't buy it. If you don't want to be interviewed, say no when asked. It's not rocket science, it’s not even basic English and grammar comprehension, but we see where we are with that now don’t we?

This is a matter of common curtousy. It is always better to ask people if they want to be included in a film and to take measures to either exclude footage of people who don't want to take part, or at the very least mosaic over faces.

This goes for crowds as well. Crowds should always be informed if cameras will be filming them and for what purpose if not for private use.
