Cheap import DVDs

Postby TsumiKi » Sun Jun 29, 2003 10:30 pm

I ordered Gravitation and Comic Party off this website. Works with PayPal.

www.discountanimedvd.com

Also has US released anime for discounted too. After spending $100 (which is so easy), shipping is free. Has manga too, I believe, but only translated US releases.
Someone really fucking hates me. If you ever decide to show your face, please, pay me a visit. I’d like to introduce you to several obscene gestures.

Yah bootlegs ahoy buddy.

"Import" bullshit

www.dvdpricesearc.com is the best place to find low cost dvds for about anything. It usually points you to BestPrices.com, which works with a actual credit card company and is not some guy in his basement...

Or were you referencing its bootleg cousin  ?

That looks like a bootleg site as well. Note the 3 DVD set containing all of Cowboy Bebop with only English dub.

Um, they are bootlegs if you got them in fewer DVDs than you see anywhere else and at a lower cost. You just bought low quality, illegal bootleg DVDs which do nothing to support the artists, actors, and studios before the series.

Life Lesson: If it is too good to be true it probably is.

When you buy bootlegs you're giving finacial support to people who stuff children into metal containers and sell them into slavery. :?

It's bad karma.

That would be a rather quick giveaway that they're bootlegs...

That, and they're "Region Free". I checked the website, they do offer the legit Trigun series with all 8, region 1, discs ($160 US) But they don't have the legit Cowboy Bebop box set at all. :?

Listen, or rather read carefully, Bebop0083. Any of the items that they sell on that website that are "import", "Region Free", and/or have no release date, are BOOTLEG. Any set that condenses 26 episodes into 3 discs instead of 8, is BOOTLEG. If it cost a quater of what it would normally cost you for a series, it is BOOTLEG.

I wouldn't even buy anything from their site, since they sell bootlegged stuff. Go to a legit site, and buy the legit stuff for the regular price (not some absurd OMGWTF!! it's 80% off the normal price!!!?!?)

You're not listening. Yes, people are preaching but you still aren't listening. You have an illegal copy of those series. What you did is illegal. You are supporting thieves in Hong Kong, not the people who made you that great series. You would be better off recording the series off Cartoon Network (not that you should) because at least then you would be watching the advertisers and supporting a network that bought the series. You did as good a thing as paying a kid $80 to steal the series from the local Best Buy.

Obviously you didn't know about the bootlegs at the time. But don't just shrug this off and certainly don't go telling people where they can get a good deal on anime. Understand the anime community as a whole hates bootleg anime and the AMV community is probably the most hateful of the lot. The only people who will think what you did and continue to support as "cool" are going to be people who don't know better and people who don't care who they hurt as long as they get what they want.

Here ends the sermon.
