I'm going to bookmark this sucker because though I may be alone, I WILL help amvs get better [to a tiny extent]. For any of the other people out there who WANT to truely help the community by giving FREE OPINIONS! Please post that you TOO want "To be helpful..."

I will be grabbing opinions from ANYONE AND ANYTHING!!! The format, the song, anything!! I was a fool for ignorance...

I want to see the amv world grow to something beautiful and if I'm solo on this, that's fine, at least I'll be of some help...

Rules:

You ARE A NOOB! One who wants help from me or others in making your amvs.
I do NOT have quicktime or real media. They keep crashing on me. So, it's not that I DON'T want to see those amv formats, I just can't...
You HAVE THICK SKIN... You will take harsh criticism and accept the fact that nobody's vid is perfect. Not even the people who are opinionating your vids...
You are NOT expecting a lightning fast response. I don't do 3 sentence opinions.
here's the clincher...
You READ THE GUIDES!! Even if you didn't understand them... They practically walk you through the art of cleaning and compressing your vids, I will NOT download your 1337 190Meg video just cause of the fact that I can get digisub DVD rips for 20+mins of that size... Btw, Virtualdub is free and will compress damn near anything cleanly...

So, time to fill my harddrive with amvs and help make the amv community a better place... Will the old-time editors help me? Or leave the newbies to fend for themselves?

I'll certainly take you up on the offer. My newest:

or, if the genre squicks you, my overdone-song action vid:

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=19319

[And I'd offer to do the rm's for you, but I'm thinking you wanted older members, right?]

Very good thread Omni! I'd gladly review some vids myself, but not in the same way as you - I can only judge them artistically, not technically. Still, if anyone wants that - I'm available.

***

And now to my purpose... Well, with quite a bit of caution and some obvious reservations, I guess I'll still go ahead and post the obvious for you:

http://animemusicvideos.org/members/mem ... hp?v=18517

Before you proceed (and not meant to sway your opinion any), a note of caution:

I know this vid is technically deficient. I'm aware of most of the problems within it.

However, I still would appreciate an op from an expert, not so much to point out the obvious about this work, but to help me figure our where to go next (using this vid as a starting point).

I'll just say this: I made this video to serve an artistic/expressive purpose, not a technical one. If that caused it to violate what was taught by the great wise guides - I'm aware. But, shoganai - I'm now ready to face the music . I need to know what this AMV is, not what it's not. Please view and critique it for what it is.

In closing, a word from my musical hero -

Don't be helpful; be available. (RF)

I am a NooB but have really read through the guides multiple times while making my videos. Believe me, they really help.

I would be glad to take you up on your offer since I am anxious to get some feedback about the videos I have made.

I am also open for anyone else’s opinions on my videos, as I will try to add my own opinions on your videos as well. Just please be kind but critical. Don't say it sucks without telling me why, or that it is fabulous without telling me what I did right. I want to learn from this.

kinda off topic, but i was just wondering what you consider a "veteran". I might be able to help with the quicktime/rm files as well, but i don't know what constitutes a veteran, does all it take is to be doing amvs for awhile, cuz i've ben doin them for about 2 1/2 years. Anyway, if you have any rm or quicktime vids address them towards me and i'll be happy to hook you up.

Are you happy I compressed the video. But I lost some quality on sound. The video is now 46MB instead of 189MB. If anyone is going to be at the con. And would like a CD of Starwind/Hawking Productions videos please bring a blank CD with you I'll have a limit amount of copies probably about 10 - 15 CD's but post online if you want to get a copy so that way if I need to make more you can get a copy. The CD will contain our earliest work to our newest works. But probably in alphabetical order. There 6 videos so far maybe one more before the con.

I just wanted to thank Braveliver for the op, and I've returned the favor. We definitely have different editing styles. ^_~

And WhereNext, if you're not a veteran I don't know who is. You have some awesome amv making skills. 8)

Anyone can do it dude [damn it and my clumsy wording], just tell me what you think you learned... I just can't play them so if you know what to do, then please do it, if you don't, uh, download the vid anyway. You might learn something ^_^

I think you learn a lot from looking at a wide range of editing styles and skills, so I'll certainly op your video in return.

Of course, I'll exchange ops with anyone on here who wants to. I enjoy seeing different things. ^_~
