If you're in college, work at a college radio station. My station is pretty small, and we get over 100 cd's a week, and that's just indie college rock stuff. When you factor in metal, jazz, classical, folk, and all the other genres we play, we get over 1000 albums a month. Working here has exposed me to more bands and entire genres of music that I would have never found with out it. Plus, I got a a few hundred free cd's over the past 3 years and a ton of freebies to shows.

Butttt, if you're not in college yet, just go left of the dial and listen to some college radio. It should be good enough to get you some exposure to less mainstream stuff.
Are you down with the sound of the Devil's town?
