Otakon 2003 Creator Get-together (and stuff...)

Postby hackerzc » Fri Jun 20, 2003 11:35 am

Ok Boys and Girls. It's june 20th and the con is quicly approaching (July seems to fly by every year as everyone does final prep on costumes, hotel rroms and the like) and since no one else brought up the subject yet (which really surprises me) I thought I would.

So, lets start the talking and see what we can do about getting together at the con for dinner or parties or whatever.

GO!

From what I remember the last couple years, the big places to meet up has been:

- The first AMV contest showing (and others, to a lesser extent)
- The AMV panel
- Any time "This is Otakudom" plays

This year, we're going to have the fan parody block (like last year, but only to a LARGER degree, from what I understand!), so that'll be a great place, as well.

There's always a crapload of us together at any given time, so it's not that hard to track people down :D

From what people were saying in the other thread, there's going to be a lot of people coming in on Thursday night (myself and guest included), so maybe it'd be fun to go out after Thursday prereg closes and go to a bar or something? The restaurants that'll be open past, say, 9 will be ones that charge more than anyone's willing to pay.

Otherwise, room parties are the big ones. I know there'll be CorboBASH, but if anyone wants to host a party on the non-BASH night or hold a dry party (I know that the NJ crowd likes to keep it sober), that'd be another great meeting point. I believe that Matt also had a meet/greet time arranged either before or after the AMV workshop for CD swapping, etc.

I'll be there Thursday at some point, and I'm definitely up for doing anything.

I'll be up for something. At ACen, it kinda sucked because we (me and Chaos Angel) just wandered around trying to find anyone that looked familiar. Eventually, I spotted Generic Asian Guy #2 (Koop) and we got to do some stuff. But that was way late. :? So... plan away.

Well don't look at me. I tried planning shit and you guys came down ONLY for Saturday. You did see us at Iron Chef though...made sense I'd be there ;)

Next year will be different, IF you come down earlier :). I mean the rest of us (Ashyukun, Koop, Trythil, Quu, SailorDeath, etc.) all met on Friday and hung out at events, went to lunch and so on....you missed out :-P

Yeah, 3 other people staying in my room are creators. Only 2 of us are known by anyone (jbone knows who I'm talking about  ).

I only speak for myself, but after I get my Con Badge and go through the dreaded Thursday Gopher round up I'm free for whatever.

That is why everyone should emediatly procede to DL their very own OFFICIAL ANIMEMUSICVIDEOS.ORG BADGE!!!

I already have mine all customized with color and resized to be as large as last years Badge (which came a little too late for some of us).

I think most of the NJ crowd will be there Thursday (at least Mike and I will be), and mad props to Iserlohn for recognizing how lame we are.

There's nothing lame about not drinking. If I was the one who booked my room, I'd be tempted to have a replay of Katsucon 8 and offer to have a dry party one night, but it's not my call.
