Problem with TMPGEnc

Post by BigshotSpike » Sun Aug 11, 2002 12:51 am

I think I've followed all the steps in Ermac's guide, but something's still wrong. Okay, the picture and sound qualities all look and sound crisp and clear (like they should), but the problem is is that they don't sync up with each other.
I can't figure out what went wrong. If there's anyone out there who knows what's up, I'd much appreciate your response.

Thanks in advance ^_^

Your framerate has changed somewhere along the way.

This could be because:

1) you've selected a different framerate than the one your original source file has.

2) You've done IVTC but haven't tested it and it has removed too many/few frames so the framerate isn't compromised enuogh

Okay thanks, but what should I do about it?
I'm sorry but I'm extremely new with TMPCEnc

What you do depends on whether its problem 1 or problem 2.

Which do you think it is?

I'm pretty sure it's problem 2.

Right, in that case what you need to do is go back into the IVTC option and test the settings (there's a button to do this). It will probably find areas where either too many or too few frames have been removed.

I cant actually remember what you do here but it might involve you manually adding/removing the frames in the ivtc.

eek post-production IVTC sounds messy. I mean hacking/merging clips has done wonders for the framr order I am sure. You'd have to do IVTC by hand, if it's even possible at all....

Or you just use DeComb ^_^

DeComb is a miracle worker - I ran I Pray through it and it came out looking great at 23.976 - and the video has like 2 layers going on at the same time for the majority of the video, and was edited in 29.97! DeComb is truly fantasic when it comes to IVTC. I use it exclusively to IVTC now instead of TMPGEnc - even when I encode MPEGs I load an AVISynth script which has been DeCombed.

I've also heard really good stuff about GreedyHMA which you can get off of Doom9's site. Haven't tried it since I just learned about it last week and I don't have a computer right now which can actually handle encoding anything.

Thanks for the help everyone! :D

I did what Absolute Destiny said and re-did the IVTC. I lowered the frames by about 3000 and the audio and video sync up perfectly, not to mention everything looks and sounds great.
