Not easily.

Dreamcast's used a GD-Rom. The discs can't be read by a DVD/CD rom of a computer. The only way for you to actually be able to digitally rip footage off a dreamcast is to rip the entire image using the dreamcast hooked into your computer via a developer cable and some tricky software. It's not that easy.

The dreamcast uses SFD files, which are related to MPEG1 files. There is a SFD2MPG converter out there. But getting the SFD file is so tedious in the first place.

Or go out and buy a DC Developer kit that can read/write GD, although most of them have been destroyed by Sega. Scratch that, I'm pretty sure they're all gone now.

The opening for that with the song Welcome 2000 is on the digi charact christmas special dvd, which I have. I can rip that for you - anything else I cant help I'm afraid.

Or you could just buy a DV500 off Ebay and not only be able to capture Dreamcast footage, but ANYTHING ELSE TOO!

Sorry. I just find it really hard to believe how far people in this field will go to not buy a capturing card ^_^

A possibility that you might want to try, given that you have the necessary hardware, would be to use the Dreamcast port of NetBSD or Linux to activate the Dreamcast like any other UNIX box. That'd activate the Sega Broadband adapter and the GD-ROM drive, and then you could then transfer (say, via FTP) the files you wanted off the drive to a remote server.

That should work, anyway. With the Sega broadband adapter it is possible to make NetBSD run off an NFS share, so you don't need to keep the Dreamcast CD in the thing, thus allowing you to switch discs.

Appearently, Dreamcast video files are just MPEG files (that can be created with TMPGEnc Plus to boot), so you should be home free from there, unless they're encrypted...

Hey thanks for the offer, AD. But I actually have the Welcome 2000 video...the very short 1:30 second long opening. I was really wanting to finish the song out...so to speak...by making a video to the whole Welcome 2000 song. I wanted to rip other scenes from the game to make it...but...well ^_^

Poor Dreamcast...RIP

Yea, pretty much impossible without a video capture device... on the other hand, it's cake if you do have one. I'd ask around, maybe one of your friends could have a video capture card, or try temporarily hijacking some school equipment. I used to have an old capture card, and while it wasn't perfect - at least it did the job.
There's quite a few DC imports that are AMV material, that's for sure...

So much for my Sonic Adventure/SA2 ideas...

Ripping is ALWAYS preferable to capture.
