This forum is for the general discussion of Anime Music Videos.

Even if it is just the creator and his/her friends.

The problem with the AMV world is that people (ab)use it as a time-killer. Making AMVs with that attitude results in a crappy AMV almost all the time. The ratio of those who really put effort into their work and have pride in it vs. those that have the equipment and source footage and boredom is... well, I don't know, but the latter outnumbers in any case. Thus, you have 75%+ crap to be optimistic, likely closer to or even more than 90% of all AMVs made fall under that category given the large scope of "the catalogue" and including the ones that aren't listed into the numbers. It's nothing concrete, but you weren't expecting such anyway ^^.

According to Sturgeon's Law 90% of all AMVs are crap, just like everything else.

I have to agree on that one.

Look at the percentage of people who don't PRACTICE!

And then the people who say "how do I make an amv?"

I'm glad I never asked that question. The best way to answer such a question in ur mind is to say, "can I have a critical opinion?"

Hmm... ErMaC's remark makes sense, although I'd wager the percentage of crap is a lot higher here due to the amaturish nature of it all. Plus, you don't need to know how many are in existance to make a reasonably accurate statistical statement. Just take a random cross sampling of vids on this site, say 100 in total, and you'll get a good idea for the ammount of crap that's out there.

DBZ is cool

Postby nrjize » Sun Aug 11, 2002 12:15 am

shut up CaTaClYsM, I happen to like DBZ and so do many other people, thats probably why so many episodes of it have been made, and also I am sick of people that use the word: "n00b" that is the gayest word Ive ever heard and its worse when spelled with the number zero :!:

I know alot of people who liked DBZ before that saw what good anime was like, none of them like dbz anymore.

BTW There may be alot of people that like dbz, there are also alot of stupid people, and liking DBZ is nothing to be proud of.

Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's the worst thing in the world. DBZ can be entertaining, as can AMVs done to the anime. Repeat after me: "There are people with different opinions than me, and they are not necessarily lesser for it".

Can we all agree that DBZ isn't a good anime? I mean nobody in the world except for kids fifth grade and below can honestly believe that DBZ has something resembling a plot.
But just because it isn't a good anime doesn't mean it can't be fun. Just take it for what it is, mindless fighting, and it can be fun to watch. Of course if you are in an action mood, there are a lot better things to watch out there, but to each their own.
Just the other day I went to go see Triple X, and if you take it for what it is, an action sequence conveyance, its pretty enjoyable, but if you listen to the dialogue you'll want to rip off your ears.
The moral of the story, everything has its place.
Oh my god! Who driving car? Bear Driving Car? How can that be?

0.o so everybody who enjoys DBZ is stupid now... is that what truly think??? DBZ got me into this anime hobby and i have seen dozens of different series since then and after the broadening of my horizons I sure as heck not ashamed of ever liking that series. It's that snobby elitest attitude that people have that if you like something that the cool crowd doesn't, then you become an 'idiot'. I like DBZ and i do not see myself as an idiot, nor should anbody else for that matter for liking any other anime. Now if you were arguing the pont of originality in the production of AMVs then i'd concur that DBZ is slightly overused..... but no you are arguing now that if you like DBZ you must be stupid... am i understanding you correctly? To spew such a blanket statement like that might be an indicator your own intellectual prowess...or lack there of.
