Video capturing stops?

Most Manga DVDs contain Macrovision - they're one of the few companies that use it. Ghost in the Shell and Wings of Honneamise both also have it.

I'm not sure how you can fix this since you're using a PS2 to play it back other than find some sort of external video box that removes macrovision, or obtaining a DVD-ROM as you pointed out.
