Star Ranking Suggestions

Postby ZeWrestler » Mon May 26, 2003 10:26 am

hey,

just had a couple ideas for the star ranking on the site.

1) Create some earlier way for the creator to find out what the rank of his or her video is. The list has broken 1000 videos. It could take someone a long time to find their video on the list. Something under the "edit my videos" section displaying star rank might be useful.

2) Creating videos with a tie score. I noticed that on some other lists, if two or more videos has the same score, it will have the same rank. On the star list, if they have the same score, then they will have different ranks. example: other list both videos would have the identical rank. on the star list they would be 567, 568, ect dispite the fact that the score is identical.

Anyway, those are my suggestions.

I was also thinking that there should be some comment made with something like a 5 word minimun for the star scale. If not that then at least see who is downloading because someone can easily give a low score. That leaves the creator with no idea what was wrong with the video or why it should have that score. Opinions are supposed to be for that but a lot of people don't do that at all. So a few comments to go along with the star ratings would be a good thing. If they don't leave an opinion or the brief comment you can personally ask that person why you get a low score and see what you could improve.

I'll have to disagree with you, I'm afraid. I think the star system is great just because of its easiness and the possibility to remain anonymous. If you don't feel like writing a full review, it's good to be still able to quickly give at least some kind of feedback to the creator.
