Post by WilLoW :--) » Thu Aug 08, 2002 11:01 am

I'd just like to know if many Non-American people have already submitted videos to american contests like AWA or else...

I'm from the UK and have currently submitted to the following contests without difficulty:

Anime Expo 2002
Mindwarp Entertainment Spring/Summer 2002
Anime Weekend Atlanta Pro 2002
Anime Weekend Atlanta Expo 2002

I've had no difficulites in submitting to them. Many US cons allow videos from international video makers however you should look out for the following restrictions:

1) Some cons only allow videos from people who attend the con.

2) Some cons require a person to be present on your behalf.

3) Some cons only accept NTSC footage so if you can only do SECAM/PAL VHS then you will have to convert it before hand. Many cons also allow digital submissions so that can be easier.

4) Some cons are poor at sending out awards - I just thought I'd point that one out (*shakes fist at AX*)

Hi,

I'm from Malaysia and I've managed to enter my videos at conventions in the US.

I've entered (and actually won stuff) at Katsucon 2001 and Otakon 2001.

In some places, New Mexico isn't considered as part of the US....
This actually happened for a group of people who were buying tickets for the Salt Lake 2002 Winter Olympics...
Olympic Official - "I'm sorry, but all tickets bought outside the United States will need to be processed through the International phone number. Thank you."
New Mexican trying to Order some tickets - "Hello!!!! We're from NEW MEXICO... not MEXICO.... Stupid idiot!!!"
Then something about a green card and all heck broke loose... You can guess what happened from there..

LOL

Vlad - Yes traveling is fun but costs sooooo much.... I don't know how you can do that...
