I tried putting an AMV of mine on the web, but three dozen huge, muscular guys from the RIAA came over and beat me into a bloody pulp. Then, they stole my keyboard.
"If someone feels the need to 'express' himself or herself with a huge graphical 'singature' that has nothing to do with anything, that person should reevaluate his or her reasons for needing said form of expression, possibly with the help of a licensed mental health practitioner."

The MPAA did the same to me, but I had a 12-gauge double-barrel shotgun-o-death ready.

Meaning: If you can make your argument with a sledgehammer, you're right.

Seriously, I don't think anybody has been sued over making AMVs. Yet.

The AMV industry looks the other way as long as you don't use the US dubbed audio track anywhere.

As for the RIAA, just hope they don't find out. I'm kind of lucky in this case, since my latest 2 videos use a song not sung by an RIAA owned group - and they know about and like the vids! ^^

it's free publicity; like little trailers for every anime in the AMV you see. i don't see how the couldn't like it..

..it might have something to do with where we're getting these clips to use, but that's not our problem if we bought them.

as long as you bought it i don't think that counts. like roms. they're supported, but only if you bought the original game.

amvs are perfectly legal to make

covered under the fair use clause...

its when you distro it... either on the web... or giviing a tape, dvd, or cd away... that you break the law
Lead me not to temptation, for I have deadlines
