I'm going to go ahead and guess that the answer to an organized dinner is no.

Not that I'm going yet, but I think you should have one...I mean...they will be there some of the time..I also here they have a 24/3 VAT like thing. I'm sure you guys will go eat anyway since you're going to be hanging out in that room the whole time.

This is my first Jacon so I'll ask. I know this is an AMV party con but do y'all tend to do anything there other than the AMV room? I know AWA is a big AMV creator con too but plenty of creators were checking out other con events so I thought I'd ask.

if y'all did want to do a dinner which night would you want to have it?

I'd love to have a get together dinner, but as Hsien hinted, I think a lot of the AMV creators are going to be hanging out in groups anyhow. Besides, the actual area of the convention isn't very large, so you're bound to run into people.

Also, I'm not sure about this year, but last year there was an AMV overflow room (in a secluded area that there were rarely people in) and the Main Event hall (that was overrun by cosplayers so much that the AMV Contest results were delayed about an hour).

EK went from Austin to Florida for JACON last year. Then again, I don't think she had to pay for it :P

I mean, a dinner's fine, if you organize it, they will come :) I just happen to run around a lot at cons so I never know where I'm going to be at any given time. That, and I'm not going to have a car...relying on MTT for rides.
I have no idea how to use this new forum.

Well I'll hunt around for a nearby resturant and see what everyone thinks then. Worst case I'll get one good meal and I'll bill it to A-Kon

Really? Did Brett get some sort of deal since he is a guest? Wow..cool. Well, I unfortunately do not have the same connections as EK and I also live in Austin. I did however get a nice Tax Refund hence my thoughts on perhaps doing this.

I've forgotten what's in the area. I know that when I visited at friend at UCF while I was up for MegaCon we ate at an Applebee's. It was pratically across the street (in a car) from the campus. It's in a plaza, so I'm sure there are other resturants nearby. Hell, it's a college! There's got to be a lot of places to eat!

Here's a question, I know MTT gang, Hsien and Andy are going to that concert....was it Friday? How many people aren't going? I'm guessing Tim, Vlad, yourself and so on. I'm right now debating coming down, but if everyone's at the concert well (shrug). Also how about hotels or rooms?

We're all going to the concert. Alkaline Trio's tribute to AMVs!!!!111eleven@

Nah, I don't know what I'm doing Friday night. I'd like to go to Disney World with whoever's going, but there's a thing called "high finance" that I haven't learned about yet. I'll be with at least one friend from home that's coming with me. Everyone else I've asked isn't sure if they're going or not. Sooooo, all I know is I'm going up Friday morning after a friend's high school graduation, and I'm coming back Sunday night :?

I'll be there Thursday evening through Sunday and I too will skip the Disney World excursion. Been there a few times already and my last raise wasn't that good.

Of the people not going to extra events Friday/Saturday night how many of you will have a car in the area? I found a butt load of resturants but it looks like you have to cross a divded highway to get there and I'd hate for Jacon to go from party con to death con.

I'll have a car. Well, my friend's driving, but he'll be at my disposal

That works. Maybe I should have phrased the question, "If you will have access to a car, perferably by a means that won't have you arrested until after dinner, let me know." BTW, I too will have a car in the area.

I'm one of the MTT dorks not going to the Alk Trio show. Instead I am going to a Beck concert in Boca on Sunday that will be millions of times better! WOO, whatta weekend!

I think they might be playing the DisneyDDR Friday night...nothing solid yet and we are all still working hard on it, but I'll be around on friday, hopefully to watch it premiere.

If you can't find a resturant then you deserve to be shot. Jacon is being held at the University of Central Florida, meaning it's a college area filled with mass amounts of Resturants. Just drive down University Blvd. and you'll find like 20 places with in a minute.

Also during the day there is a food cort open with Subway, Wendey's, Sabarro, Baja Kitchen, And a bunch of other stuff I don't remember. I don't remember when that closes. But need not worry for Perkins (on fri. sat.), Denny's and Stake and Shake are open 24 hours. Bennigans and others are open till 2 am. It's really easy to find everything, just find me and I'll tell you how to get to any place.

Ya, so don't worry about making plans. Just go expecting to have a great time and decide what you wanna do when you actually wanna do it. Can't wait to see you all there!

I'm not doing the ALktrio concert either - no point letting music get in the way of good drinking and socialising time :)

BTW, given the con is at a university, what are the regulations for alcohol consumption on the premises? Are there open bottle rules or is it considered a private institution and exempt from rules regarding public places?
