My mom's kinda indifferent about my works and AMVs in general. My dad, however, is a fan. He watches them nearly as much as I do. Plus he's always the first one to look at my work.

I guess it's kinda like having a girlfriend who loves to play video games, which I also have (however, the situation's different cause I don't play video games)

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't saying that my parents didn't appreciate my AMV in general, it's just that in this particular instance, my dad was horrified. And the scariest thing about it was he was horrified of my editing and the job I did rather than the content. He was board stiff, and he described my action-oriented AMG movie AMV as "A great slide show of pictures of two people holding hands". He completely missed the fact that there were two men in the video. ^_^ I'll try this one on my mom, and hopefully she'll have a better reaction.

My parents know I make "videos" but they do not know to what. They have never saw any of my creations, there is no reason for this it is just the way it is.......

My parents don't really care what I do in general. My mom sometimes will watch some of my AMVs every now and then just to see what I've spent so much of my time on the computer doing. My dad just doesn't care. Once he saw me editing and said, "That looks like a cartoon."

It must be so cool to have parents who like anime just as much as you do. Mine sure don't. :(

The first 3 went over alright with them. My third, Destiny Boy, they seemed to like a lot as far as the editing went, my dad seemed impressed with some of the cuts and selections. The most recent one, Irregulars, they didn't understand at all. Not surprising, it is more abstract than my others, so that would make sense. But their reaction is ho-hum as a result.

I usually ask my parents to judge stylistics from a "virgin" perspective -- things like "do these audio tracks blend correctly", "do these layer masks look dumb", "is this effect distracting", etc.

Though, the one video that I did show them -- my Kanon "Reminiscience and Fantasy" video, they loved. :P

My mom likes my work, but thinks that most of my videos (especially Disarm) is way too depressing.

I finished a vid i sent in to otakon 3 months ago, using Adolescence of Utena... yep, with nudity in it... all of a sudden my dad asked to see it. O_O the problem here is, my dad is homophobic. i couldnt convince him. he watched it.

.......the insane thing is, he thought it was beautiful.

go figure.

Dude... how do you know that your dad is homophobic? :? Do you and your dad honestly discuss your sexual orientation... like at the dinner table or something? That seems odd, I have very conservative parents, and there is no such thing as sexuality or discussion of sexuality in my house, and I'm cool with that because talking about sex with my parents would be ultra awkward. I mean, hell, my brother could be gay and I wouldn't know it.

About the vids, when I showed my parents my second vid (A "The Wanderers" vid) I put in one small clip of the backside of a women mostly obscured by water while she was bathing (princess rune). Anyway, both my parents lit up when it came on the screen and I think everyone in the room simultaneously fidgeted. It was... really awkward. other than that I refuse to use clips with nudity, or any bad language in any of my vids, so I'm mostly safe. At least for the time being.
