Help with avi's please.

Every once in a while, one of the avi's i download doesnt work properly. Sometimes there is no picture, and othertimes no sound. Do I need to download something?

Sure you do... you are missing some codecs :P

Usually it is DivX codecs which you can find at DivX.com or doom9. If you are using Windoze Media Player 6.2 you might also need some new M$ codec from WMP 7.X
For the latter case I suggest to uninstall the sucky 7.X right after installing it... you will keep the codecs and have the infinitely better ol' trusty 6.2 :D

You quite possible need to install DivX 3.11a.

Go to http://www.doom9.org and search for it on the downloads page.

either that or you have a total moron who encoded the video... :)

but yea, most likely the codecs. play around with your player and hardware settings if you're still having trouble.
