Xvid problems

Postby CaTaClYsM » Thu Apr 03, 2003 10:31 am

tried encoding in Xvid and I am getting this strange green smearing all over the video, the input and output look fine but when I go back to view it it looks like crap.

My buddy had this problem, and we went from Nic's to Koepi's and it worked fine. For some reason his system just couldnt handle it, and spit out garbled crap.

I was backing up a DVD using Doom9.org's Xvid Guide. The problem fixed when I manualy delete the xvid.dll and reinstalled the Koepi 's version. The green smearing has gone away.

well it started again. And no matter what build, what file, or what settings I get the same green smearing. Exactly what do I need to do to GET IT OFF my HD and what version I SHOULD be using, and what settings to use and what to keep away from.

I went and tried some non MPEG-2 footage and this stuff produced sound with no video. YAY! I'm about htis close to just saying screw XVID and using divx 5.02, it has alot of the features and doesn't fuck me in the ass when I try to use it.

that green garbled shit may be because your not using H.263 as your quantization type. Using something like Mpeg or Mpeg Custom has been known to cause the green, wobbly discoloring with anime sources and such.

nope, I was using the H.263 on both passes. But anyway, it is nearing midnight, and I seem to have it working (stress on the SEEM TO. I do not know what will happen next to rape me analy but I feel it right aorund the corner.) I uninstalled XVID and the Nemo Codec Pack and reinstalled the stable Koepi Xvid and things seem to be working now.

DivX sucks. XviD is the l33test MPEG-4 codec besides HuffYUV and DV. Ya'll are dumb if you think that DivX is better than XviD.

Suggestion: USE DIVX FOURCC. You got DivX 4/5, it can decode the stream no problem. You use the XviD FourCC, it needs the XviD playback filters to playback the stream.

Neither HuffYUV nor DV implement the MPEG-4 standard.

The green (or alternatively purple) smear problem can occur if the encode resolution isn't a multiple of 8. What resolution are you working at?

Shut the fuck up man.

Why dont you just let him use DivX. It might make premiere crash but....oh wait, thats only with SOURCE footage. Unless you are wanting to rip off other ppls mvids, it wouldnt be a problem!!
