MPEG-4???

What is this? I thought it was a DivX derivative. But then it won't play....

What is it exactly and what do I need to play it?

other way around, DivX is a variation of microsoft's premature mpeg 4 codec (msmpeg4 version 3). Anyway mpeg 4 is an mpeg standard, just like mpeg 1 and 2, but mpeg 4 is more or less brand new. DivX 4, 5, and XviD are all ISO compliant mpeg 4 codecs. Anyway, I'ma guess you're talking about the mp4 file format, cuz you probably downloaded bone's Lil Piece o' Heaven video you sick bastard (jk, that video amuses me >_<) in which case...

you need wmp4player to play this, find it on doom9's software page

After 1000 downloads total of DivX 3.11a/MPEG-1, I decided it was time to do something to (1) stem the flow of downloads and (2) promote a newer, better standard.

heh, good strategy ^^' but I was glad to see that somebody in the music vid business was using something other than mpeg-1. Only problem is I can't figure out how to convert the raw .bin I extracted to something I can open in Vdub so I can look at the movie frame by frame.. *-* er.. uh.. i mean... owell, no covering for that one :p

i keep getting this empty warning box everytime i try to open something. do i have to drag any DLLs anywhere? (i tried to look at the guide but somethings up with that web page)

Doom9 is the god page, don't diss it. Anyway you can't drag stuff into wmp4player, you have to go File>Open>A_Little_Piece_o'_Heaven_v1.00a_184Kbps.mp4

i meant do i have to drag any system files to the system folder or what?

when i try to open it all i get is a blank error window (blank meaning it doesnt tell me what happened)
