Editable Posts?

Postby ProdigySim » Thu Mar 20, 2003 11:01 pm

I've been to alot of forums where editable posts seems to work well.
It saves a lot of posting clutter.
Sorry if this has already been suggested...

Yeah, it has been suggested, and denied. The lack of the edit is to try and encourage people to think more before they post as it is permanent, a lot of good that's done to save us from stupidity

never, how long ago was the invisomod thing set up? As soon as we switched to php. Invisomods werent an invention of the org going down in october, they were always there, just not as many. Editable posts totally screws up the invisomod system, at least the editing posts part of it.

There are 2 options...
1) Develop another mod system and allow post editing. Giving in to lasiness and furthering the destruction of the English language. Even though in most cases the edit button wouldn't be used to repair grammar, update a link and whatnot.
2) Leave things as they are. No real problem.

One thing I'm even more curious about now is. Where there that many "Why can't I edit posts?" threads on phorum? I can only remember talk about being able to preview... (namely for the sake of HTML and the like)

In conclusion... There is no edit button, but there is a preview button
By the way, this post was previewed 3 times and re-typed 4 times.

yeah, after some rough happenings

the phorum was so much different that people didnt expect an edit button. Almost all phpbb forums however have one.

SO IF ONE PHPBB FORUM JUMPED OFF A BRIDGE, ALL THE OTHERS SHOULD FOLLOW? EVEN IF ABOUT 35/40 DID?

You get the point.

god fyrt. GODGODGOD
I wasnt saying we should have an edit button or the forum should jump off a bridge. I was pointing out why more people asked about an edit button, and why the forum switch was really when the edit button was not-introduced, with the invisomod system. I dont think phorum even had the same kind of user editing capabilities, it looked like super archaic forum software.

Don't even try that... A substitute principal at my school threatened me over something like this.

Him: Why'd you do that?
Me: Becaues they told me to.
Him: If they told you to jump off a bridge, would you?
Me: No, that's life threatening.
*He grabs my neck*
Him: Well this is, too.
