Y'know, we've been through this before and it really continues to sicken me each time I see it.

You're entitled to your opinion, however untrue, and I'll likely never successfully convince you otherwise. However, your comment is a spit in the face and stab in the heart to every AX volunteer and staffer who puts this convention on with specifically the fans in mind.

But... let's turn the conversation on its ear, shall we? What specifically is it that makes you feel that Anime Expo is fan unfriendly? Please give me some specific instances where you felt Anime Expo was a turn off to fans. As for commercialized, please tell me how you came to this conclusion, while considering that every convention has a corporate presence of some kind. Anime Expo has a larger presence than most simply because some of the Japanese companies are there as well. Maybe I'm crazy, but I'd consider that a good thing. Why are you convinced otherwise?

There are two facts that I will give you though.
Fact One: Anime Expo is nothing without fans. If the fans aren't happy, then there can be no Anime Expo because people won't attend.
Fact Two: A large reason why people come to Anime Expo is because of the benefit of meeting people in the industry from both sides of the ocean. Without their presence, there is little attraction to Anime Expo. It'd just be a convention with fansubs and cosplay panels, which would be a waste of time since I already see that at my local anime club once a month.

So. I'm calling you to back up your words here.

Why Troy? Why? That's like calling Hitler back from teh grave to explain why he attacked Poland. Sure you might get a decent explanation out of it...but do you really want him back?

Heh... y'know, I probably should give it a rest. It's just a pet peeve of mine. A few good friends of mine are AX staffers and they bust their ass for that con. To see people say that they don't care about the fans is like a soldier being spat upon coming home from action.

xstylus. STFU...

I see nothing wrong with sharing my opinion about AX, and I don't think I really have anything against the staffers at AX, they do what needs to be done. But regardless of that, I don't think I said anything about the staff or volunteers in my comment. I just didn't like the atmosphere of AX. If I didn't enjoy it, why bother going again?

Well....

I live in South Africa and have just finished my video. As soon as it's done (and I can find an e-mail address on the website) I'm gonna ask if I can enter the competition.

I just have to encode and compress my vid then I'll have it up for viewing.

You can still enter no matter where you live. AD lives in the UK and still sent to AX.

Well...

Ive got 2 problems to get my stuff to AX.

One. I dont have the means to export my vid to either DVD / DV tape. So somebody that goes to AX will have to do that for me.

Two. Anime Expo was made to promote JAPANESE anime. I used Ice Age in my latest vid that I want to submit to AX. Since Ice Age is a US CG-Animetion I dont know if they'll accept it.

Hope they do as everybody who's seen it likes it. (Even my granny of 80 likes it  )

Till then

Cheers vir eers.
