any of you doing cosplay for otakon? Let me know, I'd love to get a picture of the cosplaying members of the a-m-v.org! Maybe if enough of us get together for a picture they'd put it on the website!

I'll be dressed up as Nakago from Fushigi Yuugi. I won't be in the cosplay, though. Just wandering the halls. I got a ton of good comments about my costume at Shoujocon this past weekend, but I don't think that counts (Nakago being a bishounen and all). At least it will be recognizable.

Who am I this year?

Postby Gene Starwind 21122 » Sun Feb 23, 2003 11:32 am

Well last year I was Markus from my own anime short story series that I've been writing for fun called Ultimate Wizard Battles. Anyway this year I'm going to go as Gene Starwind. Well I think I have a pretty good personality of that character.
No matter what, stay calm, stay cool and live life to the fullest.
Plus as Gene would say always go big in life.

I'll be there as Legato from Trigun. All I need is that darn trenchcoat...

For con lists, check out http://www.fansview.com :)

I might cosplay if I do go, part of the time at least. Something simple, as I'd just look stupid having too much attention drawn to me. And I need several months to work up something involved. :P

So, maybe. Hope to. I've only made cosplay costumes for other people and done Halloween stuff before; I've never gone to a con suited up myself. :?

Sorry for the double-post, but I have a really stupid question. This would be my first time cosplaying anywhere. Do you HAVE to enter either of the competitions, or can you just go for the heck of it? I'd be doing something so simple that it's not really even worth the hall judges' time. But I thought it would be fun, so.

Yes/no/maybe? I didn't see anything about that on the con's site.

Oh god no, you don't have to enter any contests. Only like 0.1% of the people who cosplay enter any kind of costume contest or anything.

Most of the people who cosplay are only dressed up for fun of it.

Well, the numbers I gave you (0.1%) is out of the entire membership of Otakon.

So yeah, out of 12,000 people, only about 120 will enter any contest type stuff. That includes the costume contests and the masquerade together.

So dress up and have fun.
