Help me out here guys, here is a snapshot from one of my Oh My Goddess dvds, but it looks like crap:

I mean, I can't even exactly explain what is wrong with it, but it's like the luma seems really broken up, it's not smooth at all, and the chroma seems somehow just bearly off in terms of it's colors, like somehow are bleeding or something. What do you guys recomend as a remedy?

AnimEigo has admitted that AMG didn't get the treatment that they wanted to give it...it came out at a bad time for the company (UY 3 and Macross were on either end and both were WAY far behind...more than AMG was) so they rushed it through production.

If you want perfect, get the R2 or track down the dub LD...otherwise, learn how to do colour correction on your own. It's not that hard once you get the hang of it.

Yea, I know of the problem since I used the DVDs for my latest video. I suppose there is a pile of filters that can be used but in the end I just cleaned up as much as I could and left the rest... Generally I find the problem is not that noticable with the video but is with stills so I made sure to find frames where the problems seamed to be minimal and for the most part it works....

I do have the Subtitled LDs but the subtitled are Hardcoded on the disk and therefore it's even harder to work with...

Two words: source-footage.

Most anime is all from analog sources, unless they obtain the original film footage....but that's really hard to get since anime is from Japan. Most places they only get the release rights.

So if the source they got it from sucks, then the DVD will suck.
But yes, I'd have to say the Ah! Megami-sama ones are pretty crappy-looking. Laser-Disc version I heard was better, but which of us poorer video people has an LD disc player and capture devices?

Let's just hope they get some time for a better re-release in the near future.
