Seriously, I hope this thread points out to everyone just how important even getting nominated is. Don't think to much yet about who will win the categories, your jumping the gun and missing out on just enjoying have made it this far.

Now is the time to that everyone is viewing those that were nominated that they may have never seen before. I know I've started to see some good videos I never saw before. This is the best part about the VCA's, in my opinion, because everyone has an opportunity to watch them all.

Maybe I'm exagerating, but it feels like that sometimes. And it's hard to deal with as an artist.
I don't mind begging, I just want some freaking recognition. But hey, even if I don't get the award, I'm still going to be at AX with my vids, and fanime, and elsewhere I'm sure. I apreciate those of you that took this seriously, and I'm saddened by those that took it any other way.

I think you are taking this way too hard on yourself. If you know you made a great video and others have seen it and told you the same, shouldn't that be enough?

I don't know. That's just my thoughts.

You are not me.

I have a bloodthirsty desire to win everything I attempt. If I don't win, there was no point in having played the game. That is just how I think.

I would agree under most normal circumstances... but really, none of my videos got nominated. -_-
I'm only pissed about the nominations because I didn't get a single one of the nominations I wanted. In that respect I agree with jbone, this particular award is kind of... odd. (at least it's not "Most Improved" though -_-) The only reason I want it so bad is because I have NEVER won an award. And I wanted a VCA from the moment I stepped into the comunity, which was actually even longer ago than a year ago (the math is funky because I'm still working on videos I started working on two augusts ago.)
Anyway, the point was, I just wanted to let you know that I want that award. It's my own shameless advertisement, and let that be that.

It seems to me that if you really try to win, you'd be busy improving your skills and letting your skills do the advertising work for you, as opposed to the other way around.

IMHO, anyway.

Because, Gosh darnit, I think I deserve at least this! So I ask for your vote now! Please vote for me in "Best New Creator".

Yea, well you've been around for only very short time so don't get so impatient for recognition. I myself have been making music videos for over 16 years now and never felt the need to win an award. The fact that people enjoyed my videos and gave me compliments over all those years was all I ever needed. I didn't win a thing untill about a year and a half ago and I'm 37 years old! So my point don't be in such a hurry or feel you must WIN something in order to get recognition. Hec, some indivuduals here who have never won a thing have more recognition for thier work then some who have won. I thing some would even be shocked to find out how much thier vides are really liked.

Just to get nominated or be a finalists is an honor and recognition of your work and quite frankly winning really don't make a creator any better the all the rest or even more recognized. I myself love the work of a lot of prople here and they include those that never won anything and have been doing it for a lot longer then you have.... The only thing I can say is that you will probably understand what I'm saying a lot better as you get older and spend more time creating videos or antthing else for that matter that others enjoy...

Well... whatever motivates you to make videos... I guess. At least you're being honest.

But are awards truly what they're cracked up to be? There is such a thing as a poor winner. :?
