My best work ever, is finally here!

Post by lordsteal » Mon Feb 24, 2003 12:16 pm

My greatest mvid, my best work, my crowning achievement. Whatever way you put it, this is the awesomest MVid I have made thus far. I don't know where to begin. It carries with it a story, a story of a great evil and the need of a Messiah to deliver the world away from it. The world has been saved in the past, but the heroes can no longer live up to their good names. Goku, Vegeta... Cannot beat Buu. They gave all they could to try, but it simply was not enough, so they must rely the spirit bomb for this to work. The song if "My Plague" by Slipknot. I used the Kid Buu theme for this AMV. This would have to be the first full Kid Buu Theme I think thus far.I came pretty close to madness when I finished this video, so I hope it was worth it. Please I want as many people to give there true opinion on this video and if you all will go to my profile on AnimeMusicVideos.org and review it there as well.

Interesting, it was pretty good. But I don't care for Dragon ball z.

I thought it was pretty good, good timing and a little story on the side. :)
It's also nice to see a DBZ AMV on the Buu Saga, I haven't seen many of those and certainly not any good ones. So congratulations.

(Ancient Chinese Proverb: Anime Music Video dot org has over 1000 DBZ AMVs listed. Anime Music Video dot org has less than 20 with at least 3 oppinions. Dwell on that. ;))

Your editing was pretty good and matched the tempo of the song very well, technically, a good video

But there is a lot more to a great video than just editing.

Doing an amv to DBZ isn't bad intrinsically. On the other hand, when there are more than 1000 of them created and they are all just a strange mix of fight scenes to heavy metal music ('wait and bleed' was the best you could do?), then the possibilities of variance drops down to a point where each video looks exactly the same. This counts double for DB (all 3 series) since they are just fight after fight after fight.

I think you showed some high order thinking when you decided to focus on one fight, which limits the amount of available material to work with. But then again, any of the sagas in DBZ offer more than enough fight scene.

There was some good lip syncing, what little there was. So I enjoyed that.

Unfortunately there was no good link between the song and the series. This wasn’t entirely your fault. When you picked slipknots ‘wait and bleed’ you made it hard on yourself, because Corey Taylor’s lyrics are quite cryptic and difficult to link to any series.

If you want a good example of looking at DBZ in a new way, while still keeping fight scenes in, go to http://www.morethantoast.com and look for an AMV called “Fathers and Sons” (its “Akimbos” latest video).

And please, I repeat, please do not use real media to make your next AMV. Use windows movie maker if you have to just not real media. The quality was good, but you can do a lot better with different formats. Don’t worry about file size, if the video is near-DVD quality and is absolutely fun to watch, then no one will care how big it is.

I hope I didn’t piss you off or depress you, because I know that this video showed promise, and all you need is a little more wisdom with your next video and you can do wonderful stuff. Ok, thanks for your opinion. I know exactly how you feel when you say that DBZ is overly used, and I totally agree. But, I’m not just a DBZ AMV Creator. I’ve experienced with other Anime’s for a while now. With DBZ, even though I see thousands of Videos out there, I always thought of DBZ as in a league of it’s own and with all the DBZ AMV’s out there I want to beat out all of those other videos. I don’t really care if DBZ is overly used, it’s a really fun Anime to work with and I will continue with DBZ. I know there are so much better other Anime Music Videos out there that DBZ video can’t even compare to, but just look at this video in the DBZ AMV since. In all the DBZ videos that you’ve seen I thought this was one of the best. I see the AMV world split up into two categories, one Anime Music Video and DBZ Music Video. Mainly because the majority of video out there is DBZ, so what can you do beat out all the rest with your own DBZ video. But, anyways I never get depressed when I hear someone knock my video down I just hear what they tell me and learn from my mistakes, how else am I going to become the best. Anyways, thanks for the review.

good job

Post by where_next » Wed Feb 26, 2003 5:52 am

i d/l yr video, very good edits, and timing. It is one of the better dbz videos out there for sure. I dl it cuz i had made a musicvid to parts of the buu saga(only when the z fighters are faring well against buu, no shots of buu with the advantage) and wanted to compare. Then after watching it i relized i can't compare the two due to drastically different approaches. Yours was very well done, but i felt that if i wasn't familiar with dbz i wouldnt have followed along very well, but then who's gonna dl a dbz video if they don't know dbz. Any way good job, and i look forward to see what direction yr next vid is gonna go in. Hey, also dl my buu vid and tell me what you think, but like i said it had a different style behind it than yrs.

Well, that's too bad you discared this video just because it's DBZ and it's in real player. I guess I can't please everybody. I also wish I could put this video in MPEG for you because I know REAL Player will never be able to show this video true colors.
