Does a free DV Codec exist ?

Postby WilLoW :--) » Wed Feb 05, 2003 10:55 am

I've read A&E's guide yesterday, and I was wondering if a free DV Codec exists...(well, especially the encoder...)
It seems I do have one installed with my ATI Drivers, but it isn't available in Virtualdub (once again, this DirectShow/Video For Windows thing, i think)...

So, is there a way to encode from vobs to DV with tools like FlaskMpeg or VirtualDub ?

This is a block of text that can be added to posts you make. There is a 512 character limit.

actually... DirectX 8.1 (and I think 9.0) has a free Microsoft DV codec...

its lisenced (of course) but it works in directX enabled applications.... its not video for windows (so virtualdub can't see it) but its there

I found one free DV codec (made by panasonic) that works with vfw apps (like VirtualDub) on this page :

it seems to work fine...
